How underrated is Lukaku

I don't understand why people question his quality. This is a player who by the age of only 27 has:

Scored over 100 PL goals
Has been prolific in three different countries (Belgium, England and Italy)
Is the record goalscorer for the Belgian National team, one of the best national teams in the world currently

This is a player who is greatly admired by one of the best managers in the world, Antonio Conte. Twice now Conte has sought out Lukaku as the centre forward he wants to build his team around. At Chelsea and at Inter.

It's a striker with great reputation in the game that he has built up over almost a decade, yet some English fans (It's only English fans for some reason) treat him like he's a joke. I don't get it.

It's too easy to take a players time at one club and make out like they are poor. He was top drawer for some time at Everton and has shown it since leaving united. But he is the sort of player who needs to be playing in a specific way to really be at his best and I'm not sure united ever (or would ever) set up in that way. It's really it fair to just say "shocking footballer".

But it is strange how this stuff just doesn't work out sometimes for some players in some teams yet it can switch on elsewhere.

He's nowhere near one of the best strikers around
