Fairness I think I might've not categorically slammed that opinion down during the exchange, so I'm just as bad
My thing was Sarri's particular style of play didn't gel with Kova's natural game, he didn't want our midfielders to carry the ball through zones which he's great at, so I was fine with the club spending the money if they believed Lampard's style would get more out of him. Great decision

Kova is fantastic, Brummie. There's just a large portion of supporters who base all of their opinions off FF numbers primarily.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I must say I was sceptical about us signing him permanently after last season but I have to say I was wrong and he's come on a bundle this season!
--------------------------------------------------------
If you weren't such a nice guy I'd have pointed this out a few times this season. I've resisted temptation
I remember you saying we might as well keep Bakayoko as he's already on contract rather than spend 40mil on Kova
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've got to say I don't ever remember saying that ref Bakayoko. I'd be interested to see the comment if you can find it.
Kova has been impressing me all season TBH. On one of the FB Chelsea groups I'm in they put up a poll to vote for your POTS, I cast my vote for Kova!

Our scouts must have been on LSD to convince us to buy Bakayoku

Found it! I remembered wrong, it's more of a throw away comment than a proper statement, but still

Advocating he's a decent player + 40mil is decent value. Nothing more
We don't have an academy player atm who could fill his profile though, it's related to the issue of lacking a Jorginho backup last season. It's Drinkwater & MVG. Kovacic is better than one and more readily available than the other. So why not?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The why not for me is the getting fleeced for £40m bit.
I'd sooner we used players of Ampadu's ilk for squad roles, rather than £40m players that in my opinion should be worth a starting place at that price.
There are other options for cup games as well, James was played in midfield by Wigan last season. There are even younger players such as Gilmore, I'd rather see Bakayoko tried again to see if he can carry on the better form he was supposed to be showing in Milan.
Many fans don't care about the money we spend but I do, I think it's important we invest wisely in the transfer market and at the risk of repeating myself I don't see this move as that. Nothing against Kovacic but not for me at that price I'm afraid.
Sorry to have to disagree with you!

The article it was on compared us buying Kova to becoming a cockney Everton
You weren't the only one who wasn't optimistic about him.
