The weather is against us. From the current position a draw is not acceptable. Go for it. It's pathetic at the moment.

Yeah, OK - a bit of frustration in my part but with the weather forecast for the remaining days maybe a bit more urgency was required at that time. England need to win to regain the Wisden Trophy or it remains forever in the hands of the West Indies.
Any further playing time we do get will possibly see the West Indies using any delaying tactics they can as all teams tend to do when they are in a situation like this. A draw from here would be a massive result for them. It's the nature of the beast but as I said - frustrating. Love to see Broad get his 500.

Yeah, whilst a game is going on, it's easy to get frustrated. I know in the past when we haven't needed to get on with it, I've been frustrated with us at not getting on with it.
Today has been rained off and I think before the game even began, today was set to be a wash out. Saturday was supposed to be as well so at least between the 2 days, we got pretty much a full day's play which is a bonus. The forecast looks better for tomorrow and the Windies can try and delay all they want but England will have a set number of overs to finish the game.

Have to say though that England have a good and exciting , talented team and for that credit must go to the selection panel as well. For too many years they seemed like a bunch of dinosaurs who were wheeled out of their cave before each series muttering "Boycott, Boycott'*. Yes, superb batsman, possibly not the greatest team-mate because of his single-mindedness but can't fault his ability.
Jimmy and Stuart are approaching their Twiglet years and their knowledge will be valuable to those who follow. Archer is exciting , Bess and Woakes are OK and hopefully they can step up a level.
On the whole I am impressed by the level of performance this series. Not the most formidable opposition but the Windies appear to be coming out of their doldrums thankfully.

That’s a proper performance. WI made an error in bowling first.
Came looking for the draw with the selection and were skittles by a great team showing. 500 up for Broad, some player that lad.

It appears that the OP’s knowledge of cricket is on a par with his knowledge of football.
Non existent.

Agree with TCM...
think you have to garentee not losing first off... a lot would qusiton the captaincy losing a game in that manner when only 1 - 0 up in the series.
the weather has been really frustrating though !! - I get that

My initial comment was posted on the first day of the first test. Nothing to do with this test or being 1-0 up in the series.

ha, I know that now mate
yeah, got yer, but even then mate, 1st day of the first test, why would you ever think they are playing for a draw? - openers are supposed to play the long game, you're getting to used to Stoksy and Buttler mate

I suppose living in India when the IPL first started spoiled my enjoyment of test cricket as much as Boycott bat did. Never mind watching paint dry with him it was more like watching the ocean dry. Yeah I know, the pure form of cricket, holding down one end etc. There were always people saying "I wish they'd get him out". Undoubtably a great batsman with classic technique - bore the opponent into submission - like an early Steve Davis.
