We’ve been heavily linked with the Lyon midfielder so last night without a doubt provided an opportunity to have a closer look at him against a formidable team.
Aouar seems to be the type of creative player arteta wants. A player who is constantly involved in the game, provides excellent work rate and defensive cover yet possesses two key attribute, a killer pass and most importantly, fantastic ball carrying abilities.
For the longest time, arsenal have been over reliant on passing out of trouble which made the team one dimensional. Apart from Sanchez, in recent times years we’ve lacked excellent ball carriers that commit opponents and create opportunities.
With the signing of Willian along with Pepe, Saka and Martinelli, we have players that can drive at defences, but it is important to have a player in the midfield of the park who is able to do that. That’s why Cazorla was amazing as he bridged the gap from turning defence to attack.
Anyway, what are your thoughts on Aouar and would you have him over Coutinho?

I'll probably get my head chewed off for this. But when was the last time a Ligue 1 talent came over to the EPL and hit the ground running?
Eden Hazard? Kante? Mahrez?
Buying players from the French league has become almost as hit or miss as the Dutch league.

Well it's either that or pay a premium for PL proven players who transpire to be just as big a gamble.
I would definitely have him over Coutinho.

I get what you mean. But French football used to be such fertile ground. All across the board. Everyone from Man U to West Brom could always count on Ligue 1 for dozens of capable players who slotted in like ducks to water.
Dont get me wrong. Their top players are still a cut above everyone else in the world. But the pyramid is gone. Nothing but a sea of overhyped Hatem ben Arfas.

Very good player, lots of potential to improve too. Way out of our price range.

You will not get him. The Lyon chairman doesn't sell his players for cheap. He sold Ndombele for 55m and Aouar is a better player.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We have reportedly offered Guen (c £40m) and £44m. So not sure what you think is on the cheap.

Forget it, sounds like a proper CAM who does every aspect of the job. Would be a breathe of fresh air to the No10 spot at AFC.
Alas, he will have a transfer fee that we just ain't paying. Nnnnnext?
