Dare to dream?

If the bench is so poor then it is probably critical to rebalance the squad, surely?

Is Pogba's value off the pitch worth more than on it?
We need another left footed left back don't we?
Do we let Smalling back in or spend 80 mill on Koulibally?
Too many keepers when you can only play 1.... that money is better invested elsewhere, but where?

My sell list is genuine (in an attempt to redistribute funds to get a better squad, I, equally would have those named stay.. it is just a suggestion) the incoming list for illustration.... we can all look through FM20 and get the names, that suit. My point being is that we still have imbalance in the squad. We will not survive if we don't put any subs on ever again.. so, what choices would you make... given that we can't achieve all we want with the funds we will have and we can't stock plie 30 first team players if you ever want to encourage a pathway for young players.

So, do you make big changes, or just spend what we have on 1 player? cheers.

SELL:
DDG 60 mill?
POGBA 80mill?
JONES 7mll?
LINDELOFF 40 mill?
MATA free
+100 mill (ish) transfer pot

Lindelof has a good game last night barring their second goal.
--------------
It's so frustrating, as he can have 89 mins almost flawless and then have a massive switch off. (The Saints game too, he was MOTM until their goal).

But it becomes hard to overlook match losing, points dropping errors. Hopefully it is something that he can get a hold of.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No. Its not something he would ever get a hold of
People having been hoping every year now. Expect us to be having this conversation next year and folks hoping he gets better the next year. Ed then rewards him with 4 years contract.
Mourinho used to have a good eyes for defenders. How he got baily and especially lindelof is a msytery to me

On balance, I’d say that Smalling is a better stopper than Lindelof. I don’t think he’s a better footballer though.

And you don’t see Liverpool, City, Barca, PSG, Juve, etc. going out to acquire stoppers. They’re all investing in players who can carry and pass the ball.

The game has moved on.

i do occasionally wonder though why this comfort on the ball seems to apply to our CBs, but not to our FBs?

Remember when we signed AWB and ed was crowing about how we'd looked at 800 RBs in our super duper NASA-endorsed database? I'd love to know who the other 799 were, if that's the answer the computer spat out.

He isn’t great, but he isn’t terrible.

Brandon and Shaw are better on the ball though.

He hasn't been an awful signing, agreed.

It's just that when a CEO starts talking about a signing as being our top pick out of 800 names, and all the statistical analysis that went into his signing, I have grand visions of the computer spitting out the answer to life, the universe and everything, like the one that works out the name of God in the arthur c clarke story or something.

"Lindelof has a good game last night barring their second goal."

Problem is Rosso, there's always a "barring" moment with Lindelof.

And it doesn't usually involve Lindelof barring the way to our goal for their attackers.

As I said on the other thread, although Lindelof could have done better, AWB was primarily to blame for their second goal. He had a really poor game.
-------------------------------
Agree here, the pundits made an absolute meal of it, and, therefore, so did the matchthread gang. He could have done better, but it wasn't the worst thing ever seen
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sure if you go back to the match thread, people blame Lindelof instantaneously. You cannot get caught square on, with no idea where your striker is as a CB at this level.

Kids are taught this from an early age.

The Lindelof being a ball player is a complete myth too. He is okay when given time on the ball, but he cannot handle the high press.

Maguire is clearly the better ball player, and isn't afraid to play out under pressure.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Playing through the high press and distributing to the midfield, he completed 93% of his passes last night, a higher proportion than any of our other players.

I respectfully disagree on this point Busby. I think he’s very good on the ball as CBs go. It’s the reason he’s selected in front of Bailly.
