Scottish Army?

I was asked this question today. If Scotland gains independence, will it have an army? I told the guy to post it on the Scottish board, but he doesn't seem to have the time, so what do Scottish posters think the defence/military set-up will be like post independence if it happens.
This guy really wanted to know varying views.

Aye Ivan.

All “hoped” to be secured from the break up of the U.K. and built up over the next 10 years. Finances permitting of course.

The break up of assets will take many years and the financial argument has had many holes torn in it. Much like every other financial argument from the SNP.

Of course it's all hoped for. The reason they can't say for certain is that Westminster refused to enter into any kind of negotiations before the referendum, so they couldn't say so with any certainty.

Just as they refused to discuss the matter with NATO.

Just as they refused to discuss the matter with the EU.

Which of course made sense. The lack of certainty helped their cause - and apparently it still does.

Hang on.

So there’s not one bit of clarity or agreement in all of this hope, but we’re being told it’s a credible scenario and is the basis of their argument.

What's the alternative?

Seriously, what do you expect them to do if one partner won't engage with them?

Would you prefer they acted like the UK Brexit negotiators, who make demands and insist that 'THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN' without actually discussing it with the other side?

Not much to be fair. But presenting something like it’s an actual and hoodwinking people is equally as wrong.

Why not just say “they cwnts won’t discuss it” like everyone else does

It's a negotiation - no point in having it if we know how it's going to turn out!

If I were to predict how it might go I'd say PM of the day says gtf we're not negotiating and the FM says fine you can keep your debt then.

Fancy a bum?
Aye, OK.
