With rumours gathering pace that it's a done deal what do people think? Personally on a free transfer for a couple of years I think his leadership and experience could be a vital addition to the defence, the guys about to potentially win the champions league. Obviously big questions about his age and if he can adapt to the Premier league but I feel pairing him with one of our younger CB's to do alot of the running while learning from him and letting him martial the defence could give us some much need solidity.

I would be very happy if Chelsea signed him

News to me. Not a done deal.
Entourage could be using Chelsea as leverage to get better deal at PSG, similar to Dunk.
If he were to sign for Chelsea, my feeling is his pace deficiency will be ruthlessly exposed in our current set-up.
Doesn't align with the current signings that we have made either, athleticism is clearly a key attribute for Frank...

Decent filler signing if it's purpose is to loan out Tomori for a year but that's it. It won't address the leadership problem where it matters (on the pitch) if he's not playing the majority of games which I wouldn't expect him to at 36 y/o.
One of those ones my heart doesn't mind, I've always rated Thiago Silva (a proper leader), but my head says is needless - keep Ampadu & wait until a gem of a CB becomes available.

Blanc was really old when he joined us, still classy but titanically slow... why are arsenal going after ancient players?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Isn't he now linked with a move to Chelsea?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I read that Chelsea were in for him, not Arsenal..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah but that means that he'll almost certainly rock up at Arsenal before his 39th birthday, so indirectly he is being linked with Arsenal

A deal like this makes sense on principle - an older, experienced CB proven to be a leader who can help short term. But I think Thiago at 36 this season, and apparently been showing his age last couple of seasons, isn’t necessarily the best choice
As DA said though..a lil part of me wants it for a completely arbitrary/subjective reason it would be nice to see Thiago Silva play for us

Would be a big improvement on Chelsea’s cbs. He’s not slow, and would be a huge addition as a leader in the back line.

Thiago Silva is still a top class centre back. He's not playing for PSG on sentiment.
Every CB has a weakness. His might be that he's lost a yard of pace. His positional sense and overall game intelligence will keep him out of trouble most of the time.
Atm, I'd say he'd be better than any other CB in that leadue apart from VVD.

I think he will be brutally exposed for lack of pace. It would be too risky to pmsy him in a back 4.
He could be good though playing the Luiz role in a 3 4 3 or 5 3 2

Speaking of Luiz, why did we let him go if we are now looking to get Silva?

I must say that I have always liked Thiago Silva, but he is getting on a bit to be introduced to the P/L, also.........
It does seem that Brazilian footballers, when on their last legs, want to stock up their bank accounts !
best of luck to them, but not at our club.
