Yeah I agree, I was hoping for Telles or Alaba for lb

Fair play to Leicester.
They have made an absolute fortune out of some bog standard players.

Don’t particularly rate him but 50 mill for an English 23 year old with pl experience and from a rival is much better business than the 80 mill banded about.

And I still have questions about his overall ability. But he’s in (the right shade of) blue now, so he has my full support. I look forward to him proving me wrong

As I've said elsewhere he doesn't need to be brilliant, we just need a decent and consistent PL standard left back who puts in a shift every week and has a good injury record. If he gives us that and we get a few years out of him then I'm happy.

At least we'll possess a LB that is comfortable at powering his way infield into the box and putting on the afterburners on the outside in possession, just what the doctor ordered for our attacking play (in helping break down low compact & in attacking transitions).
Antithesis of Alonso.

Evidently one of strongest aerially, in defensive duels as well.
Has an awareness of what is happening over his shoulder, to head crosses away at the backpost.

Problem position solved for years to come I hope.


With regards to the price...45-50m is the going rate for British defenders (homegrown premium in case some didn't notice), much more palatable than the inflated rumored fee.

He's been England's first choice left back for a couple of years now as well so we were never getting him on the cheap.
