Does anyone know much about just how good he is other than the occasional clip on MOTD or the odd live Wolves game? I watch a fair bit of footie and I can't say that he's done anything outstanding that makes me think he's anywhere near an upgrade to Aurier. I read somewhere that, contrary to reports, he actually 3 years left on his contract yet apparently we can get him in for 15 million? What? That rings alarm bells to me. Have we really got to a level where we're buying the players Wolves no longer want? Wow. Now that really is a fall from grace.
From where I sit he fits uniquely into Wolves style and plays inside a lot, doesn't have a turn of pace and is one of the lowest crossers in the league (that deficiency is masked by how well Traore has done to fill that void). He's not the kind of player trusted to bomb down the wing at pace and supply the forward line so I'm wondering where this leaves us. Davies is very much in the same mould so without any clear width at the top end, I can see us struggling even more to break down teams that sit in.
Just not sure this deal is as great as it seems. How much can you really expect from a player who's team is only demanding 15 million despite a 3 year contract in place? Aurier defo has a howler in him but equally I'm not sure Doherty offers as much going forward as Aurier. Yes, he's scored a few goals but that's down to the Wolves system more than it is the player himself. He won't get that freedom under Jose. Really not sure on this one. Feels like we've traded Walker for worse in Tripper. Then we traded Trippier for worse in Aurier. Now Aurier to Doherty. No great decrease in price tag but the quality is slipping for me.
Doherty - any good?

Slow/immobile, can’t carry ball, doesn’t have good vision/creative passing, not stand out defensively. Doherty lacks Alonso’s good shooting technique

None of this is true.

So he is fast, a good dribbler, is a good creative passer, is stand out defensively and as good as Alonso at shooting technique? Alright

So it’s slow or fast there’s no middle ground

I don’t think saying Doherty is slow is outrageous, but there you go.

It’s not if it’s your opinion but I think someone disagreeing doesn’t automatically mean they think he is fast.
He could ( and this what I think ) he has a okay bit of pace.

I’m 37, play vets football at a low standard, haven’t played a single second of professional football in my life or could ever dream of it, and I honestly think I would be an upgrade on Serge Aurier.

You’re either obviously joking (not clear from your comment) or you don’t realise the difference in standard of football between your level and the PL

Doherty reminds me of Alonso. Occasional ability to get into good positions for goals/assists and so can get into these positions more for as a wingback. Passed this what is there? Slow/immobile, can’t carry ball, doesn’t have good vision/creative passing, not stand out defensively. Doherty lacks Alonso’s good shooting technique

You have no idea what you're talking about.

As I said to your mate who also couldn’t muster anything further than a reply of ‘you’re wrong ’:
