The Championship

So, with Leeds finally promoted to the promised land, the Championship board is going to be a hell of a lot quieter. Some of you have welcomed me onto the live match threads when your team has played Wednesday but with only Kitty and me representing the Owls the traffic on our board has ground to a halt. I am aware that some teams have a few regular contributors.....

Derby
Forest
Huddersfield
Barnsley
And I think QPR have one.

I thought I would start a thread for all things Championship. Predictions, transfers, rants etc. My own team start the season with minus twelve points so a good start is imperative. Garry Monk has no excuses now as he has been able to shift some deadwood and high earners and has brought in a few of his own signings. Chey Dunkley from Wigan will hopefully shore up the defence with a change in formation to three at the back. At the other end of the pitch we had been left with a broken Jordan Rhodes as the only recognised striker until today when Josh Windass and Elias Kachunga signed. I always that thought Kachunga was a winger. Maybe Huddersfield fans could give us the low down? We have also signed another Huddersfield old boy on loan in Izzy Brown who could prove a decent signing if we can keep him fit.

I admit to not knowing much about other teams transfer business. Anybody we should look out for? Stoke have signed Steven Fletcher after he left Wednesday and have a decent manager in my opinion in Michael O'Neil. They may be a contender but as we know, the Championship is a hard league to predict.

The three relegated teams should pose a threat given that they are armed with parachute payments. Do you see any of the three going straight back up? Will any of the three promoted teams trouble the playoff places?

We kick off on Saturday in the League Cup. It will be strange without fans but I think we can all agree that life is better with football in it.

Cheers everyone and good luck for the season.

Karlan Grant will be a big loss for you. I was hoping Forest might try for him. But if the opportunity of the Prem is there he’ll take that.

Does that mean Diakhaby gets his shirt? Sorry for you if he does.

Diakhaby is back with us unfortunately. I can remember telling the forest fans when he signed on loan for you, that he was sh¡te and I got shot down in flames. I was told that I was jealous and that " every team says that about former players", but you wouldn't listen.

As for Grant, we'll make a killing on him. We bought him for £2m, we'll make at least £14m. Don't get me wrong, he's got a great scoring record, but he's got a huge chip on his shoulder. If we can invest the money into the squad, it'll be good business.

Like the money we received for Matty Cash, the money you receive has to go mostly on operational costs. Just how it is.

Hi Chaps and kitty

I'll start with Kachunga, he's not that great, he's not quick, couldn't finish his tea, but, he has a huge heart and will work his socks off.

Looks like us (Htfc) are doing things on a very low budget hoping and praying 🙏 that this Leeds coach can get us promoted. It's not gonna happen and hopefully we'll survive.... again. Karlan Grant is going to West Brom, Steve Mounié is on his way out too, all we're left with are kids and freebies from other championship clubs.

We just drew 3-3 with Manchester United under 23's, having been 2-0 now, decent restult I hear you say...... Nope, Doncaster rovers beat them 5-0 today

I have no predictions at the moment, I couldn't care less tbh.

Thank you for joining in Hydy. Fancy Jordan Rhodes as a replacement? We seem to have broken him

although he did get a hat-trick against Forest

Jordan has been broken for years. He still minces about the pitch, he's slow, and he's past it now.

We have never played to his strengths. He needs to be in the box. We expect him to drop deep and hold the ball up. That is not his game. I was at the 4-4 game we had at Hillsborough when he scored all four for Huddersfield. Absolutely tore us apart but I remember the service he got too. Some guy called Roberts?

Gary Roberts, at Wigan the last I heard. We had a great team that season, Pilkington too.

Norwich are my favourites

Stoke my outsiders pick...

Expect both Welsh clubs, Watford, Bournemouth and Forest to be competitive.

Nice to see Coventry back and a new team in Wycombe 😊
