Emi was decent since Leno got injured. He got in great form and delivered in big games. But let's think for a moment now. He has been at club for 10 years. Isn't it strange that in 10 years he wasn't nowhere near no.1 keeper spot? Does that mean all coaches that were there in 10 years were blind?
For me, I think Emi is good goalkeeper who got in great form, wasn't under any pressure coming to replace Leno, because expectations weren't high. If he didn't perform well nobody would said anything because we all knew at that point he isn't world class keeper. So he is having momentum, great form, under no pressure.
I was also thinking that it's a bad business selling him, but then i thought if all this was just momentum and we can get a 20 mil for a player that few months ago we would get peanuts for, maybe it's not a bad idea to sell him now that his price has rised and you have a proven world class keeper in Leno.
Selling Emi may become great business

Arteta does not like being dictated to.
Case in point,
Ozil, Gouen and now Martinez.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Problem there is it's the strength of Emi's performances and their RESULTS dictate/d he should be No. 1 (at the moment). not the man himself. He just said he'd have to leave if dropped (he's obviously peaking now so MUST play, unlike Leno).
Asking the club to stand by him, his results and the trophy the helped bring back to AFC last season, is not dictating. THAT would be coming back from injury after watching someone else outperform you solidly. Then demanding your spot back when you can't perform like that yourself yet, so don't actually deserve the spot back yet. "Being dictated to," is exactly what Arteta has done here. But it's Leno, not Martinez who is the little dictator. If he wasn't, this wouldn't have become any issue at all before the Jan window.

Who has suggested Leno has demanded his place back? It is Emi making the demands, and to be fair for a 'keeper to demand he is number 1 after 15 PL games in 10 years is a bit much.
Leno was patient when he first came, didn't demand to be #1 and took his chance.

The story I saw was about his injury return, not getting the 1 spot in the first place. Got spot done great, lost spot injured, replacement done BETTER. If someone else is playing better then that's who goes in the spot. Simple really, the best player at game-time, plays. And as long as Emi holds form and Leno can't command his area and defenders. The best player is Emi, even if Leno is the far more talented one.

I would sell Leno, which we could get 40m for, there is no difference in quality between the two. If anything I prefer Martinez

We would be lucky to get £20M for Leno with the wages he’s on. Also if a better keeper in Emi is being sold for £20M, why would we get a bigger offer for an inferior player?

Leno is on £100k a week, Emi £20k. We could give Emi £60k a week and it would still save half of theit combined wages which could be used elsewhere.
I can see no reason why we should sell Emi and keep Leno.

Someone already gave you a reason.. nobody is trying to buy Leno.

It's not great business, but if Martinez is trying to lay down the law in order to sign a new contract then I can understand why Arteta won't have it - he's drawing the line with Guendouzi and Ozil and now Martinez...

Selling Emi is actually a brilliant piece of business if we reinvest. We are a much stronger team losing Emi but adding Partey/Aouar.

Selling Martinez would most likely only finance half or less of one of those players, so we I don’t see the validity of that argument.
