On Thursday Wolves welcome Stoke City to Molineux with ex-Wolves players Danny Batth, Steven Fletcher and Sam Vokes expected to be in Michael O’Neill’s squad.

The last time that the two sides met was in January 2017 in an FA cup game at The Bet 365 Stadium. Wolves won the game 2-0 with goals from Helda Costa and Matt Doherty.
It’s a sign of the times that not a single Wolves player who played that day is still at the club, the only member of the squad who is still a Wolves player is Conner Coady who played as a midfielder at the time and watched the game from the bench.

With no European football for Wolves this season they have the perfect opportunity to go on a cup run and make a strong challenge for some silverware. With so many young players having joined the club who have limited senior experience one might be forgiven for expecting the Wolves side for this game to resemble the Portuguese U23 squad.

After the superb season opener on Monday with Wolves bringing 3 points home from Sheffield United it will be interesting to see if Nuno gives his 18 year-old transfer record signing a run out in this game.

Gem’s prediction 3-0

Interesting that Gem. I see that only the 5th placed team and FA Cup winners now qualify for the Europa league and the LC winners go into the play off stage of the new competition. Looks like 6th placed team loses out for European football.

6th will likely get the fa cup winner spot when a top four side wins it and no idea who gets the conference league spot when a top four side wins the carabao

macclesfield gone bust

efl clubs asking for financial help from the premier league - fat chance of that.

After loaning him out to Oxford United, Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham, Wolves, Getafe and Reading, Arsenal have finally sold keeper Emiliano Martinez to Villa.

Sincerely hope get the indecisive flapper Martinez that we had and not the commanding shot stopper that's been playing for Arsenal recently.

New four year contract for Connor Ronan, club must believe they can get a fee for him from somewhere. I'd like to see him get a chance at Wolves, dont think he's been given a fair crack under Nuno so far. Cant help thinking he'd fit in well to the current squad.

Same as last year in that England gets 7 teams in European competition. But it’s now 4 in the champions league, 2 in the Europa league rather than three, and 1 in the new competition.

1st to 4th in the Premier League go into the champions league

5th in the premier league and the fa cup winners go into the Europa league. If the fa cup winners finish in the top 5 of the premier league than that position goes to the team 6th in the premier league.

The Carabao cup winners go into the new competition. But if that team qualifies for the champions league or Europa league then the position will go to the next team in the premier league. Which could be 6th or even 7th

Be good to see how much Ronan has developed from his loan moves. Getting into this Wolves team would be a big ask for him. I would have liked to see him get a loan to a championship team to test him out at a decent English club, but wonder if he is more suited to the less physical games on the continent given his lightweight physique

In Switzerland now isn't he? They are renowned for their small physique and lightweight tackling.

Another player on loan at Grasshoppers is Renat Dadashov. But he has suffered a cruciate ligament injury in training today and will miss most of the season
