I know, I'm being all doom and gloom after a handful of games, but I just think Lampard has been found out. We are fat too easy to get at.
My first question is, are we a possession based team or counter attacking? We always seem to be possession based until we score and then we retreat and cede the ball to inferior teams, which invariably end up punishing us. We are much better as a possession team and pretty ordinary on the counter so I wish we would just dominate games. Jorginho and Kovacic are player who thrive on possession, not nicking balls off attackers.
Second, are we high line or low block? It's hard to tell. But I'm fed up with seeing our full backs high up the pitch from goal kicks, our defenders split, keeper rolls the ball out and the defender is immediately under pressure and with no out ball from pressing forwards. School boy tactics really. If you play out from the back, you cannot isolate the players with the ball.
Finally, and I'm not particularly bothered about last night in the grand scheme of things, but Werner is a centre forward, not a winger. Mount can play anywhere so I have no problem with him. And Havertz is a 10. Lampard must decide which of the three is his most important player and make the team play for and around him. No square pegs in round holes.
Biggest positive last night was the keeper, good solid debut. He actually made some saves, a rarity in the Chelsea goal of late.
My problem with Lampard (at the moment)

How can a penalty technique be found out?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
By realizing that if you don't blink first and react after he makes contact you will likely still have enough time to dive and block the shot.

Unless he puts it in the bottom corner beyond his reach. The idea a penalty technique can be found out is ridiculous.

Honestly...you fackwit, His type of pens are the most likely to be found out, by virtue of how he is likely to approach it
Granted saving it is still to be completed...& he had a 100% record until recently - but it's still telegraphed

Just no. Bruno does the same, he hasn’t been ‘found out’ as he’s really good at taking pens, as is Jorginho. Pen techniques don’t get found it. It’s incredibly stupid to think they do.

I've got to agree with Sheriff here. Do a hop, skip and a jump every time and you're going to get rumbled eventually.
A blast in the top right/Left hand corner is the only way to stop a keeper getting to it.

But they haven’t been rumbled, it’s a matter of poor execution of the pen. Which is the same for any penalty technique a footballer can use.

Sorry can't agree, if they know it's going to come low and slow, they know they're in with a chance and the longer they can hold their nerve the greater chance of pulling the save of.
Hard and high in the corners gives them no chance!

But that doesn’t mean the technique is being found out. Jorginho and Bruno will continue to score more pens than they miss taking it this way because they are good at pens.
I actually hate it as they look like belleeends doing it. But it clearly works.

Clearly not every time!
