Nev, brace yourself
....I thought this to the end of last season, but just tried to ignore it and move on...but, do we need to be thinking about a new keeper?

I think the one thing that used to counter balance his weakness with coming for balls in the box was distribution and excellent saves. I just don’t see them as much anymore. He will go down as one of my favourite ever players and people at the club. Which is why questioning him now feels more worrying than if I’d never liked him or hadn’t rated him for some time

It’s perhaps more of a judgement based on his previous excellence just have this inkling

Maybe we are just better on the whole, so there are less shots for him to save. There’s just something that isn’t the save anymore.
Maybe lock down has affected me in ways I’ll never truly understand

😂
The only reason I’d look to change Kasper is if Rodgers tactics depend on a keeper who can play out from the back. Kasper has always struggled slightly with this.
But that aside, abs I’m not sure it’s critical to Rodgers style as we don’t play a really high line, I think we’re good.

I think it is true to say that Schmeichel is as good a shot stopper as anyone, but he has never been one for dominating his six yard box when crosses come in. In previous seasons when there were dominant centre backs like Huth and to a lesser extent Morgan, this was not really a huge problem. Currently, the lack of significant height of our current pairing gives cause for concern. That is also reflected in scoring opportunities at the other end as well. Perhaps the introduction of Fofana will remedy that. That said, there can be very little argument that Schmeichel is very susceptible to crosses and it is probably more of a surprise that our opponents don't do more to exploit this.
The thing is - who could do better with crosses but still maintain a good shot stopping standard?

The Kasper thing is easy to analyze.....
He has instant reflexes.... IE good shot stopper.
Alas if he thinks Too long he thinks wrong!
This is why is is $hit in dead ball suituations.
I said this on another thread that he got beat by Man City three times. Two corners and one free kick.
He panics when he has too much time!
He will always live in the shadow of his dad but like Vardy we need to start looking.
