Despite having Levy, who while not the same as the Glazers, comes with his own challenges, Poch did a very good job there. Not only in terms of a style of football but got Spurs (yes Spurs!) punching above their weight.
_____________
Were they really punching above their weight? Spurs had some excellent players in 2016 and still finished third when Leicester won it and all the traditional "big clubs" were half-asleep. CL final, yes, but you sometimes get that in cups.
Like I've said, I've nothing against him at all but I don't know if he's done vastly better than Solskjaer really.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That was only his second season. After that the club decided to move to Wembley and Spurs were in effect playing only away games for 2 years. Despite that and over 500 days without a signing, Poch took Spurs into the top 4 regularly and made a CL final, beating the likes of Dortmund, City (peak Pep City) and Ajax on the way.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Solskjaer hasn't been United manager two years yet. I'm pretty sure he hasn't got what he wanted this summer, even if Cavani and Telles are confirmed. Last autumn and winter people were talking on here about six-pointers with Norwich and Solskjaer got us to fourth. He's also beaten good sides, including Pep's City on a few occasions.
Pochettino might come in and he might be fantastic for United, but at the moment there's not much on which to base any prediction that he would. I personally doubt it would be that much different.

Ole going about diving with the squad he has
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've not seen the Martial incident but I won't be complaining about it. Like you say, we have players that do it and it's sadly part of the game now.
That said, it looks like today's red card had an effect on the overall result, even if Spurs probably would have won anyway, so I'm not surprised if Solskjaer is unhappy about it.

Improvements can be made very easily by bringing in the right players and by having a better coaching set up than we have now. To find the latter will probably end up being down to luck rather than design but it can be done.
In terms of signings, over the years we've made some really poor choices in the transfer market. I think last summer especially was an awful window.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The signings wouldn’t look so bad if we had a good coaching set up.

The squad made it, Chelsea, Maccabi and Manchester United – the squad made it. If the squad made it, my club structure made it because that made it possible to have this squad. We came here with fresh legs with some players injured and some in the stands. We can face competitions.
"The message this week was that together and with this squad we can make it."
Jose interview. Sending message to Ed about structure and squads there. Bang on

Any given manager is only going to do so much about that.

They could still be better though, you know they could.

yep, i read that as a well-timed dig at the united hierarchy too...imagine a manager being happier with levy above him than the united lot!

Yeah I know they could.
