Fair play to you for putting your hands up .
It was completely out of order and pointless, except to take the mick out of him.
I'm not pc mad ,far from it ,but don't forget to mention some of the replies from your fellow posters.
It was getting nasty and personal.
Anyway, its done and dusted with hopefully no harm done.
Life is pretty crap for many of us just now .
Let's stick to football?

From your point of view, yes. Many others may not have thought that. But if you see Matth as a damsel in distress, then knock yourself out Prince Charming.

If I was Matth I’d take what you did as more of an insult than ioag’s article.

But that’s just my opinion. Difference is, I won’t choose to have your input deleted because I thought it “out of order” and “pointless”.

Life is pretty črap for many of us because we’re sticking to football.

For what it’s worth ioag, I thought it was funny.

And would have loved to have seen the video.

I dare say it could have been one of his “best-sellers”

The article itself was by no means malevolent, and I'd like to think that Matth might have taken it in the spirit that was intended, but I should've realised that it might get the kind of replies it did from some of the usual subjects. To make matters worse, I left it unattended for a good while and, lo and behold, a couple of the usual nasties turned up.

Utopia's right in that regard. By the time I got back to it, there'd been several replies in the vein he suggests. One of the posters in particular has previous for laying into Matth very viciously, and I should have foreseen that the article could have drawn that kind of response. The one who tries to act like he's the more contemptible one of the Gallagher brothers, whichever one that is.


Utopia, since you've come on here, just let me clear something up, since I'm not familiar with you and I don't think you're familiar with me:

You might have thought the article was pointless or, to borrow your own words, 'out of order', i.e. simply aimed at having everyone make fun of Matth. As such, I'd understand why you might think I'm a lower life form. You're well wide of the mark in that regard, though. I am, in fact, multicellular.

Seriously: my own impression is that there's been an encouraging change in recent times as regards how Matth engages with other users on the site. It's seemed to me that he's actually enjoyed some of the banter related to his Jadon Sancho articles and keeps coming back for more. If I can put it this way, my impression is he kind of enjoys being a mini-celebrity on here. The article was intended as a nod/wink towards him, rather than as an effort to insult, demean or publicly embarrass him.

Bearing that in mind, I can't agree that it was pointless. What I definitely do agree with you upon is that it was ill-judged. As much as I'd like to think Matth might have got the gist of it, in all honesty it's far from certain that he would have. Worse still, by publishing it and leaving it unattended I opened the door for abuse, as I have referred above. Creating the environment that made it possible was is entirely my fault.

I spent a fair bit of time writing as much in acknowledgement of my mistake before asking Admin to remove the article, but by the time I hit the 'Send' button the article had already been taken down, which is why I felt this one necessary.

That's about all I have to say on the matter, but will read any reply you might want to make with interest and look forward to having some lighter, football-related exchanges with you elsewhere on the site.

If I've become a hate figure so be it . I have honestly never objected to anything on here before.
Possibly you shocked yourself at how easy it is to cross the line , especially as it was unintentional.

I don't see any reason why. As I said in my first post on this thread, I took your complaint as coming from a place of genuine concern. We all make mistakes, and your comment helped me see mine, so I'm grateful for that.

Definitely no grudges whatsoever this side.

(As for the replies being out of my control, well, in hindsight I should have expected some of them and either not posted the article at all, or at the very least have been on the ball to moderate it.)
