I thought Aurier was superb on Sunday and for me is a more complete player than Doherty. I get he has a bit of madness about him but i think he got to much stick last season.
Now onto Doherty, its early days and i hope i am wrong but to me he just seems a poorer version of Trippier. Obv physically bigger but equally poor at defending and his delivery is not on Trippiers level.
Hopefully he picks up but for the time being Aurier should be first choice. Aurier also seems a really popular character in the dressing room, players seemed really pleased when he scored Sunday.

its great to be able to tweak the XI a little to best combat the strengths of the opposition

I think Sanchez has quietly become first choice. Dier and Toby is too slow against most PL sides.

May as well copy and paste my comment on a thread when you first signed Doherty:
Doherty reminds me of Alonso. Occasional ability to get into good positions for goals/assists and so can get into these positions more for as a wingback. Past this what is there? Slow/immobile, can’t carry ball, doesn’t have good vision/creative passing, not stand out defensively.
Aurier can be frustrating/erratic but don’t think he’s an upgrade.

we needed another RB regardless. Doherty is proven in the league in a very good Wolves side, at only £13.5m as a HG player it was a no brainer.
for the long term though another RB will need to be considered as Aurier still cannot be trusted and will only have a year left on his contract at the end of the season should he not extend.

Can we have just one of them please

I haven’t watched many of your games but is AWB not that good ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He gets a nosebleed past the halfway line and Brighton could have scored 5/6 goals down his side. I don’t think he’s good enough and while Aurier is, shall we say ‘inconsistent’ he’s at least relatively exciting to watch from what I’ve seen
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wait until he gives a few pens away

The myth that Aurier gives away penalties on a regular basis rears it`s ugly head again. Off the top of my head I doubt he has given away more than one since he has been at the club.

I think Aurier's improvement may be result of Ledley King coaching.
I hope he's working with Doherty too!

I think it was the number of foul throws he did when he first joined that formed many an opinion.
