BLACKBURN v FOREST - Match Thread

Well, yet another era starts at the City Ground

However, for me, I feel more hopeful with this appointment than I have with almost any other one we’ve made over the past 10 years

We have a manager that has been there and done it, on multiple occasions, and at different levels

I trust Chris Hughton implicitly, and I’ll back him all the way, even if that means laguashing around the relegation zone all season, because I believe given time, the resources and the support he will get Forest promoted - but that ball is in the court of the owner, and just how long he’s prepared to give the new manager - I just hope he can see the bigger picture for once

The Blackburn game, could go either way for me - actually the 3 games after that are the ones where we need to starts picking up points - don’t get me wrong, a draw or a win against Blackburn would be great, but it’s not the be all and end all

We have a fantastic squad of players - almost too many to choose from, but within that group, we have enough quality and depth to get this team up the League

If Chris Hughton can hit the ground running and instil the right mentality within the team, the players and the system he wants, then I wouldn’t bet against us being around the Playoffs or even Automatics pretty soon - I’m seriously tempted to stick Β£100 on Forest going up this season at 16/1 - it’s definitely possible

And for once I feel really hopeful

I have a sneaky feeling - a win is in cards for us this weekend

COME ON FOREST

I’m more pleased for Chris Hughton -

I think we just might have a very special manager

Well it’s one game and it wasn’t great but can’t ask for more than 3 points. Important to do it at home on Tuesday

I just think he’s got the all round ability to do something with this squad

Let’s be honest, Sabri was a nice bloke, but we wouldn’t have scored a 90th minute winner if he was still in charge

So good to get that first win...

...at a ground where we never do well, while they've started with a bang and we've lost our first four.

This was a massive result ( and puts us above Derby, though that's trivial). Maybe we have lift off.

Just seen the goal - massive slice of luck - but it’s certainly about time we had a bit

Seems like Blackburn poses no threat whatsoever

It’s amazing what a difference having a shot makes, that’s one thing failed at today. Normally we rely on Lolley, but even Taylor likes a punt. Grabban still looks a bit out of sorts, but one goal for him will most likely change that. Figs had a decent game, in fact defensively we looked pretty sound, even after scoring we kept Blackburn out of our box, rather than just sitting back and hoping. All in all, not a great performance but something at least to build on, also think of some of the players now at Hughton’s disposal that didn’t feature today.

Yep, definitely something to build on and looks fairly hopeful for the coming season - if Hughton can keep the team focused, disciplined and in the right frame of mind with one game at a time - we’ll do well

I’ll take it.

Hughtons had a week-and-a-half. He’s not gonna have us playing attractive, expansive football in this timescale. Priorities us being solid and scrap a goal.

Very sh!thouse.
Ironically, very sabri.

Hit the woodwork twice before we scored.

They hardly had a look in.

I'd take that away to Blackburn any day, but given the sides starts to the season this was a miracle.

They didn't hve a look in, that's right and I think that was Hughton's game plan. Didn't look great going forward, second half v Brizzle was probably better in that respect.

But Hughton can't sort out everything in two weeks (probably not two months) so he has concentrated on making us solid and compact in the defensive third. FBs didn't get forward too much; back four as a unit tried to do the basics, simple, no frills, no risks.

It paid off.

Same back five Tuesday night I think. Yates keeps his place; Arter and Taylor to start; Knocker on the bench.
