Ozil's agent

Just read an interview with Ozil's agent and all I can say that I agree completely with what he said. Read it.

At least Ozil's agent gets paid millions to be a fanboy, you've got no excuse. Time to move on, he's finished at Arsenal.

reading this raised a question in my mind. Arteta said he failed to get the best out of Ozil and its his fault. The question is what players has he got the best out of?

Here is my opinion on a few contenders.
Auba - drop in orm recently. Doesnt look as motivated or happy recently.
Saka - less paying time and not looking as good as previously.
Tierney - An argument for him, but I get the impression he is self motivating and will do well in any circumstances.
Leno - errors creeping in.
Xhaka - Arteta may well be getting the best from him. It looks to me like a lot of the decisions around the team like 343 suit Xhaka, so if Arteta is doing everything that suits him he should be doing well (for him that is, shame I think he's not good enough and drags the whole team down around him).

Please feel free to add anyone else you think has an argument for Arteta getting the best out of them.

Two points stick out here (other than the Uighur thing):

"You wouldn't expect a club with class to make 55 people redundant just after winning the FA Cup or sacking a mascot after 27 years of service, just before making a £45 million signing [of Thomas Partey]," Sogut said.

And

'In April, he refused to join his teammates in taking an initial 12.5% pay cut because of a perceived lack of clarity in how the money would be spent, along with the manner of the conversations between the first-team squad and senior club officials.'

The pay cut didn't save all the non-playing staff and the team spent money that they apparently didn't have as they had to let go of staff.

Tierney, Xhaka, Elneny, Mustafi, Luiz, Holding

All were awful before Arteta came him. Now they are all average/decent players

Gabriel, don’t know how high his ceiling is but has been excellent so far

Bellerin, AMN, Ceballos, all had critics before Arteta came in but have been much better since

Emi, gone now but honestly can’t think of a GK as reliable as him since Seaman at the club. Before Arteta he was a nobody

Auba was great since lockdown but looks like he’s been figured out on the left wing now

Tierney awful? Dont be ridiculous. He was coming back from an injury and surgery while at Celtic. It takes time to get sharp again. Xhaka has improved because the tactics have been changed to those which really suit him. 4 in midfield means he has less ground to cover; the slow build up is perfect for our slowest player (physically and mentally), etc. Holding as well is coming back from injury, all the CB's have benefitted from the extra numbers with 3 atb. Bellerin another coming back from injury, AMN getting more experience and growing stronger with age, Ceballos in his second season.

Its easy to attribute the reason for someone being better, but in reality there can be several factors to it.

And as for Emi, yes he was a nobody, but a nobody who showed the attributes which have now been more widely recognised. I said at the time that I would prefer to keep him and loan out Ospina. And when he was at Reading he was just as good with their fans saying he was MOTM regularly. Some said they couldnt believe we didnt even want him as back up.

The thing with is Ozil is that none of that would have mattered if he'd shown some effort on the pitch. If he'd have shown even a modicum of hunger, or interest, or put in a shift most games even when things were not going well - he could have said whatever he wanted. The fans wouldn't have cared of any negative impact his China comments had. The fans know what a bunch of kants our owners are, so they may even have backed him with his wage cut stance.

Unfortunately, you probably wouldn't need all of your fingers and toes to count how many 7+/10 performances he's given over the last 5yrs. He's had chances with the last 3 managers, and blown them all. Arteta told him what was expected of him, gave him 10 starts, and he played well against Utd. That's about it. 1 goal and 1 assist in them 10 games. He can do it, though. We've seen it a few times - taking games by the scruff of the neck and bossing it. But he hasn't even got close to being £350k/pw worth of a player. And he hasn't really shown he's cared about that fact.

Now, a large section of our fans are brutal. If you're playing well, and helping the team win, then they'll worship you like a god. But if you let it slip for too long then they'll be on you, and you'll be hounded and hounded until you leave. We've seen it many times over the last 10 or 15yrs.

We need to start putting in performances without him now, as there's already whispers and questions about Arteta, and even Auba. And even louder about Leno. It's been about half a dozen competitive games since our FA Cup win, and some are on their backs already. Especially Leno. Fans are disappointed Emi left, and now the fact that him & Auba practically saved us from a relegation fight at some point in the last 2yrs is irrelevant. He pulled out world class save, after world class save, when we were facing 25+ shots per game against the likes of Watford & Southampton. He saved our arrrses many times. He's made a couple of big mistakes already this season, so now he's on the hit list. But as our defence has tightened up and we are facing far fewer shots, it's harder for him to redeem himself.

For me, that's wrong. But it's life. Many clubs have fans that behave the same. I don't think I know fans of any club that would have stayed quiet through what Ozil has, or rather hasn't, done these last 5+ years.

I've heard he's addicted to computer games and pulls late nights gaming, any truth to that? Would make sense as to why he's dropped in form so badly.

Either way his agent is talking nonsense, for 350k a week there's a certain level of football required and Ozil is light years from that.

Politically he's all over the place, getting wedding photos with a dictator then critising China. One of those common celebs who can't separate his religion and own heritage when in reality looking at two comparable evils. Whether there's any truth to the club bending over for China, who knows - that would be equally as hypocritical given all the BLM coverage.

Football really has come to something when a player can be utter garbage for 5 years. And visibly apathetic toward competing, every pundit and fan in football...

And that alone is not considered to have been enough of a reason to drop him. Go figure
