Rumours of this technology coming to the PS5 have been going around for months. I have never seen anything definitive to say it was definitely coming, but I am seeing things now that possibly hint strongly at it?
DLSS,(Deep Learning Super Sampling) for those that don't know Is something Nvidia, bought to their graphics cards a few years ago. Early results left a lot to be desired, but version two of the software saw a big leap in quality.
What it does is create a higher quality image from a lower resolution. It does this by being fed higher quality images and the AI is asked to create that same image in a lower resolution. early results were poor, but now astoundingly, 1440p can in some cases look better than the original 4k image.
The advantages of this technology, would drastically reduce the overheads needed, and give the power saved to the developers. Nvidia are up to version3, and it really is game changing technology.

I'm not sure this is confirmation, but if true will offer huge potential for PS5 games.

This should most definitely remain in the rumour category for now. I have found no official source, except for a few Sony patents relating to the tech. Having said that Liquid metal also had the same speculation around it, including patents, and that rumour turned out to be true. So who knows?
PS5 possibly utilising DLSS equivalent tech

Amiga, what are your thoughts on HDMI 2.0/2.1 with regards to the PS5?
I have a 4K TV, which to me looks fantastic in quality when watching 4K stuff, as well as regular HD stuff. My TV only has HDMI 2.0 ports though so won't be utilising the 2.1 the PS5 supports.
How much of a difference is it likely to make, as I'm not going to fork out for a new TV any time soon.

And for the OP, I've never been a PC gamer so when comparing things like graphics cards it's really not my topic.
The videos I've seen circulating of the loading times from boot up, to playing a game in 7 seconds is scarily good though (to me).
Also, seeing things like dying in a game, to respawning and playing again in 2 seconds

My TV actually does have 2.1, but it really is more about future proofing than necessary.
Put it this way, I didn't buy my TV because it had 2.1. so I wouldn't worry about it for now.
It will be years before it becomes relevant to the average consumer, and not something your PS5 will make much use of anyway.
So stick with your TV, it certainly isn't worth changing, unless you were planning to upgrade.

Tbh I'd probably rather sit playing the PS5 at a smaller monitor than on the big living room TV, just a personal preference but I don't have space anywhere to set up a little gaming room.
