Now that we have genuine pace and crossing ability on both flanks with Chilwell & James, there's no reason we can't play three at the back with these two operating as WB's

But basically any midfield that doesn't involve Jorg or Kova (especially together) is fine by me

Like to see how Kovacic does in the box-to-box role too when he gets minutes. Struggled In that role under Sarri, but our game back then had more emphasis on short passing than dribbling.

Agree i think kova could operate in the mount position in my formation really well too

Kova loses the ball rather easily at times & his passing can be erratic, as well as shooting...other than that brilliant

This was what we played during the comeback against WBA as well

Think the chances are quite high he'll settle on it at some point. 4231 & 343 have little balance the way he sets them up, 433's the sweet spot.

I prefer the variation with Jorginho or Gilmour but he'll probably favor the one you posted with Kante to get Mount & Havertz playing as no.8's.

433 w/Jorginho or Gilmour lessens that slow switch problem, so you do care about formations even if you don't realize it

The reason we do that is because Lampard can't work out the balance with two man midfields, so we wind up recycling the ball through our defense constantly rather than risk losing it in midfield (where there's huge gaps) & leaving 1v1's on the break.
