Man Utd penalties against

It used to be very rare for visiting teams to be given penalties at OT , but since the lockdown and the empty stadiums there have been five penalties awarded to visiting teams. Makes you wonder if refs were being influenced by the huge crowds at OT and were scared to give penalties against them but since the crowds have been missing they feel less intimidated and are giving them.

In the 90s I was a young football mad kid who watched everything, but if Spurs were at old Trafford I’d take the week off as I didn’t even have hope that we could pull off even a draw.

These days I always expect us to get something at OT, the fear factor is gone

Apparently it's 5 in 7 games, the previous 5 were over 101 games.

I think that is what's known as an outlier!

Interesting stat: Liverpool conceded 6 penalties in 2017/18, and since then have conceded only 2 penalties - 1 per season.

Can't think of anything that has changed, so it must just be that the refs are biased.

You won a penalty for barely a graze yesterday.

Gabriel avoided a clear red too.

You won and you're acting like you've been hard done to

Think it helps that we aren't as good as we were so teams attack more, that combined with a poorer standard of defending.

I do think the lack of fans may be a factor. I'm not just saying this applies to United either, I'd be interested to see similar stats for the other big teams. Obviously VAR will be a factor as well.

Yeh, I agree.

Having said that, the end of the season may be a better time to look at the stats, when there have been a significant number of home games for each club without fans.

Would love to know when Gabriel's clear red was. His booking was soft as it is, ref let a few similar go unpunished.
