Diego Jota

He's more of a goal threat than Firmino and quicker, which is something we've lacked in some games. He's also very good at pressing from the front which Firmino does so well. His link up play isn't as good but Firmino has been out of form for a while now having played so many games, since he joined the club. He barely ever got a rest. Now we have a good replacement, one who is in form, it will not only give chances for Firmino to get a rest but also give him some competition which hopefully pushes him to up his game.

Saw a lot of Wolves living near the area, I was surprised they put £40m down on Jota. He's a decent player but one who goes through patches of hot spells then leaner spells.

Maybe a move to Liverpool, higher standards and better coaching that'll improve.

I imagine he'll fit into the starting 11 on Sunday against City. Only he now won't have to play 50 odd games a season every season. You worry about how you overcome Demba Ba and Martin Skrtel.

I wasn’t that impressed with him at Wolves. Well he seemed a decent, PL standard player. For £40m thought it was an excellent signing for Liverpool as he provides cover for all their front three, and as said he’s just a good PL standard player. And younger than you realise. He has started very well, I would be suspended if it continues for a significantly long time but if it does they’ll undoubtedly win league again tbh, with him, Mane and Salah.

Said on another thread but his xA+xG p90 was between Mane and Rashfords last season which is a good place to be. Clearly a talented player albeit I think his all round game has been sub-par so far for Liverpool while his end product has been exceptional. I think his overall passing will get better but his finishing will revert back to the norm soon.

Plenty of clubs were interested in him just ended up at Liverpool. Could he be signing of the season? Possibly, depends if he can nail down a starting position but he has made an excellent start to life at Liverpool. Certainly puts pressure on Firmino.

The 2 biggest questions really are 1) Can he become a regular and replace Firmino and 2) Could Mane be that CF and perform any sort of similar role to Firmino, if not then could the front 3 be adapted to still work without Firmino, seen as he has been crucial for the last 3 seasons now.
