Is Liverpool`s title defence over before

it has even started? Things are going from bad to worse. Already had the worse defeat of any defending champions for about 100 years, the 11 players that played most of last season, are gradually dropping like flies.

With their injury list growing, and now Salah has tested positive, are things conspiring against Liverpool. After an almost injury free two seasons, when other teams players were suffering because of multiple injuries, Liverpool took advantage. This season looks like the boot is on the other foot.

Is it possible they can successfully defend their title with the likes of Minamino, Milner and Shaqiri likely to have to play a major part this season. Even talk they may be in for Steven Caulker.

On another note, Leicester seem to be getting all the luck, like when they won the Prem. They will be playing a Liverpool side with half the team missing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Getting all the luck? We haven’t seen Ricardo yet this season, Maddison missed the start of the season and isn’t deemed fit enough to finish a game yet, Ndidi will be out for 12 weeks, Amartey even longer, Soyuncu will be out for around 12 weeks, Castagne for four, Evans missed three games and Vardy has been out for a few weeks too. Yeah we’re having all the luck 😂

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have only heard of Maddison, assume the rest are just your squad players. Vardy has hardly missed a Prem game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh Sandy you do make me laugh 😂

So you don’t remember Ricardo scoring against you last season then? I’d say you blotted it out of your ageing memory but you remember Maddison, who scored the winner in the same game. Never heard of Evans, Soyuncu or Ndidi 😂 all three of them as well as Castagne would be first choice and so would Maddison, who missed the first month or so.

Vardy was unavailable for a few games with a calf injury but yeah he doesn’t miss many.

Testament to our squad depth that we can have our first choice defence, defensive midfielder and our most creative player out for most of season and yet we’re still top.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

None of them scored the winner in the last game Leicester played against Spurs. I believe it was 3-0 to Spurs, just about our most comfortable win of the season, and a very one sided affair.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah probably the most comfortable in terms of score line but using your own words you were completely outplayed. Basically you did what we did in our title winning season, a style that you have maligned countlessly on here.

We had 71% possession, 24 shots to your seven, 90% pass accuracy to your 71%, 697 completed passes to your 285.

We only won four games out of the last 17 but still finished three points above you but anyway that was last season and is irrelevant now.

We’re a lot better than we were last season and lessons appear to have been learnt. Rodgers has moved away from his rigid style of play and adapted to the opposition and you can guarantee we won’t let you hit us on the break three times this season. We’ve put three past WBA, four past Burnley, four past Leeds and five past City and ended our 46 year hoodoo at Arsenal and all this with five key players missing or six if you include Maddison, who only played 20 minutes against City and Leeds.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs are or not, with the exception of smashing an awful Man Utd side you’ve not played anyone with any quality yet. You struggled to beat WBA and Burnley and haven’t played City yet. Let’s see how much you’ve improved when you play them next week. Having watched the WBA I thought you looked awful, couldn’t pass the ball and created nothing.

As I said Spurs easiest three points of the season. Expect much the same this year. Very average side punching above their weight, with their best player a 34 year old.

And lost 3-0 at home to West Ham, and lost at home last years relegation fodder, Villa.

I mean who loses at home to West Ham 3-0?

To be honest Arro, you totally bottled top 4 last season mate. You were in complete control at the start and completely threw it away.

Leicester are a very decent team but i feel they lack the depth to maintain a challenge over what will be a hard, compact season, esp. as they also have Europa League.

As for Arro's explanation as to why Leicester's start is so much more impressive than Spurs' its funny how Spurs smashing United is nothing because Utd are terrible yet Leicester's big wins vs Leeds (15th) Burnley (18th) & WBA (19th) are far more impressive Ignoring the fact that SPurs ahave scored more than Leicester.

Wouldn’t say we bottled it, that would imply that it was just as the season drew to a close that the pressure got to us but that wasn’t the case. We were absolutely awful following our 9-0 thrashing of Southampton so even before the lockdown we were gash. We only won four out of the last 17 games so we didn’t bottle it, we were just rubbish for over half a season. It was amazing that it took so long for anyone to catch us.

That’s just me having a bit of fun with Sandy.

That said, I’m still not convinced you’re any better than you were last season yet but I’ve only seen one game and you were awful, couldn’t string two passes together and created nothing. Let’s see how you do against City, I’ll watch that and reassess.

I think we’ve proven that we do have strength in depth and honestly much to the surprise of I think all Leicester fans. I mean we’ve had our entire back four out as well as our best defensive midfielder and best creative midfielder and yet we are still top of the league and our Europa group. How many more players do we need to be missing? What kind of team would Spurs be fielding with your entire back four, defensive midfielder and creative midfielder all out?

Everyone seems to look at Vards and wonder what we would do without him but Iheanacho more often than not scores when he plays, it’s just he rarely plays because Vardy is rarely injured. Vards didn’t play against Luhansk or Braga and we scored seven so we clearly don’t rely on him as much as people would like to think we do. We also have Slimani who while many don’t seem to rate him, is one of the best in the air in the league and gives us another option, especially when we have Albrighton, Under, Ricardo and Castagne available to deliver balls into the box for him. We have options all over the pitch so not sure where this idea that we have no strength in depth has come from?
