How to win a title

Im interested to hear from United / football fans specifically what the club need to do / change in order to win our next title.

But even with that it’s still difficult. Nowadays three years is actually quite a long time in football, let alone at the biggest clubs.

Looking beyond the current manager when you don’t know the position the club will be in when he leaves, or what the manager market will be like, isn’t something clubs can really do too well. Especially when you want to commit to your current manager.

You obviously want some continuity, but I do think the idea of neglecting the short term for the long term is a naive way of looking at things.

I think this is where United have gone wrong, it’s been a half arrrrsed attempt at trying to cover both bases.

If you can’t get your team to the top in the short term, when you’ve got more resources at your club than most others, what chance do you have of building something long term to last? The latter is far harder.

Proper structure in place with a long-term vision
Give a manager the time and resources he needs
One account per ja606 user
Astute signings in the positions where they’re needed
A continued focus on youth

For me it starts on the pitch, both in personel and coaching.

You can have the best DOF and owner in the world but if the players and manager aren't any good, you aren't going to be successful

So it starts with buying the right players..

Yeah. But the targets are identified by the manager and his coaches

A lot of United fans on this thread want new owners but surely you have to agree that the owners have financially backed each manager to the sum of 100s of millions!?

They've spent £600m, £400m net, in the past five years. Crazy. To put in perspective, their net spend over the whole PL era is around £700m.
