Proper striker. Excellent movement and opens up space for the others.
Do we think he keeps his place this weekend?
I hope so.

For the weekend I mean

Cavani gave you a proper spearhead last night, Martial isn't a centre forward imo.
There were quite a few positives to take from that performance but one is definitely the structure looks better with an actual no9.

I thought he was great... he caused real problems for their defence, even though he didn't get too many chances. His build up play is clever and intricate, his movement great and he is tenacious as hell.
I think he will be managed well, so may not feature on the weekend. This may be why he runs about like a madman, maybe he is told that he will be used sparingly (but hopefully, he is just super fit and can play like that more often than not).

He's quality. I feel like there would have been more excitement with Cavani if he was brought it when the window opened, a lot of the negativity is because he's seen as a panic buy. His link up play and movement are brilliant, he's so much better as a 9 than Martial.

I was very impressed with his link up play last night, nice little touches, held the ball up well. Think he can do a very good job for us. His movement has always been excellent and still is.
I expect him to be used in the bigger games as he provides a good outlet. I like Rashford playing on the right as well, I think he looks more of a threat there

Top quality, loved how he linked up, made good runs and stretched the opposing defence. Shame his good work was not rewarded with a goal.
Also a special mention to Beeky. Outstanding talent, top notch performance last night. Should be a starter in my books.

I was so skeptical about this signing but I was actually very impressed by the dimension he provided to the team. He also looks very fit. Martial is not a centre-forward. He gets goals but there's something really lacking in our attack when he's the focal point. Cavani is not that old. i think if he stays fit he could be a valuable part of our squad for the next couple of years or perhaps more.

He hasn’t set the world on fire but there are promising signs.
He’s making great runs but is not being found.
My initial fear when he signed is that his legs had cL gone which doesn’t seem to be the case.
Also he looks hungry and looks to be here for more than just a last big pay day. He didn’t stop for 90 mins last night and was berating players for not playing him in when at 3-0.

Let's be straight here, Cavani's movement is better than 99% of strikers in football, comparing Martial specifically to him is a little unfair. Just look at other "proper" strikers, Lukaku, Ighalo, Zlatan, their movement is closer to Martials than Cavanis.
Although it does raise a valid point that a striker with such movement and link up opens play for runners and allows the likes of DVB and Bruno to flourish.
I see no reason we shouldn't be starting Cavani. He adds something we need and if he is fit and able to play 90 minutes, he probably should be.

Telles is going to be very crucial to play with Cavani. I haven't seen anyone since Becks having such an accurate delivery. Long may it continue
