It's hard to say If best could even conform in a modern team. Look at ravel morrison. The kid was off the chart but managers won't tolerate the external factors. I guess with best it was more a culture/sign of the times but he certainly took to it and enjoyed a lifestyle not combatable with a modern player.

Even the Romarios of later years couldn't behave the way they did. Culture has changed massively. That's not taking away from how amazing he was but it's just impossible to gauge what sort of impact he would have in the modern game.

I think with someone like Ferguson as his manager, Best would have made it. I remember that story of him dragging Giggs away from that party early on in Giggs' career. I think Ferguson would have done enough to keep Best reined-in enough to show his magic on the pitch, but only for a while. A bit like with Beckham, Ferguson knew the point at which to release a star and I think if Best were a young footballer playing in the 1990s or 2000s there would have come a point when Ferguson would have sold him.

I cannot believe it is 15 years since Besty died and being from NI I am biased, but could not decide who was better between the two....both were the best dribblers of all time.

I could not attend the Best funeral in December 2005 as I had just crashed my motorbike.
