In honour of my old friend Mu52 who thinks these lists are always Americanised..
My top 10 (in no particular order)
Mona Lisa
Local Hero
My Beautiful Laundrette
Zulu
Trainspotting
Gandhi
A Clockwork Orange
Withnail and I
Lawrence of Arabia
The Wicker Man
This was a hastily put together list - feel free to correct my perceived mistakes. Bob Hoskins is one of my top 5 actors of all time but I rewatched The Long Good Friday again recently and just didn’t feel it. Incredibly dated in all the bad ways. Some may decry the lack of Monty Python - not my thing but go ahead!
And Australian...
Max Max 2
Gallipoli
Muriels Wedding
Crocodile Dundee
Shine
Romper Stomper
Priscilla Queen of the Desert
Chopper
Picnic at Hanging Rock
Walkabout
Best British (and Australian) Movies

In terms of an all out, depressing and nihilistic viewing experience, nothing beats Threads.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Most brutal film ever
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s a cliche saying you need a shower after something bad but after that I needed an acid shower
----------------------------------------------------------------------
sounds interesting, what is the plot
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s a TV movie - BBC I think - about a nuclear attack in the 80’s and the UK is destroyed. Takes place before, during and after the attack. It’s a movie but is so ‘realistic’ (for lack of a better word) it’s almost like a documentary.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Like “The Day After” only about a million times more grim
----------------------------------------------------------------------
coolI'll check it out. Any idea's where to look for it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I found a good link for it if still interested pranks

Documentary style account of a nuclear holocaust and its particular effect in the working class city of Sheffield, England. And the ultimate long run impacts of atomic war on culture
Jesus that does sound grim. Made in the 80s which can capture grim so bloody well, post nuclear holocaust in Sheffield. Good lord you really have to be in a certain mood to be willing to watch that.

Take Zulu out of the first list and replace it with just about anything
Take crocodile Dundee out of the second list and put the first Mad Max at the very top.
There is no way in this universe is the second one (good as it is) better than the first.
Indeed, the first one is good enough to grace any top ten list - regardless of national film industry origins. It's that good.
