Evening all,
Obviously bitterly dissapointed about the news on Holden, and I'm absolutely gutted for the lad, but its happened and we've got to take it on the chin and move on.
Just reading some comments on this board make me cringe as all the negative moaners/part timers, whatever you want to call them come out and slate the team/Coyle/the fans, everyone basically...
Obviously people are not going to be happy when they see the table, and with recent results, they have a reason to be un-happy, but some of the tosh they come out with is just that... tosh.
We have played some of the best teams in world football remember guys: City, United, Liverpool and Arsenal. Did you really expect us to get anything from those games?
A saying that sticks in my head in football is "if you stand still, you go backwards," and how true is that from our perspective?
Yes, in the Big Sam days we gave the Uniteds, Arsenals and Liverpools of this world a damn good game, and even if we did end up losing, the opposition knew they had been in a tough game from 1st minute to last.
But we're in the 21st century now where these teams have spent a fortune to have even bigger and better squads than they had back then. Can we really say we've improved our squad since then?
Well no, probably not... But then again,we've not had some multi-millionaire owners pumping money into our club. We've always been on a limited budget and have done very well over the years with it.
Yes, don't get me wrong, we've got some very good players, but our best ones are injured, which is just unfortunate, and happens in football.
I'm now looking at the senior players to stand up and be counted; they know the situation, they've probably been there before and they have to help some of the younger players through it.
The Jussi's, Robbo's, Kevin Davies have to pull us through this; in the kind of games v the Wigan's of this world; they can't be judged for their poor performances against world class players because its a no brainer who's better, but they can still perform against poor oppostion, or they wouldn't be at the football club.
We're all in this together; yes times are pretty bad at the moment, but I believe it takes just one result, one turning point to turn our season round. Its unlikely to come against Chelsea, but with the games after that, we have to bite the bull by the horns and go for 3 points and Owen Coyle is definately the man for that.
So lets cut out the negativity, because it just gets boring and repetitive and doesn't improve matters. We're still playing football at the highest level in English football in the best league in the world.
What more can you ask for?
In Coyle I trust.
Time to stand up and be counted

Definitely not. But that also applies to other teams similar to us in stature, who've still found the wherewithall to push the top teams in games AND take points off 'em too, so it's not really as valid an excuse as it first appears .....

That is a little list of who has beat us and how many times since December long before our injuries pilled up and we got that bad run of fixtures this rot set in long before this season and has not stopped since.
Fans need to take the blinkers off and stop blaming injuries and a run of matches 20 points from 72, 6 wins form 24 is relegation form and unless Coyle can turn this around within 8 games he needs to go

That's what Gartside gets paid for ...fans don't pick managers. Besides .. who says it's got to that stage yet anyway? But, if that time DOES eventually come, there will be plenty of candidates ...I've never heard of a club sayin' ' well ..we can't think of anyone better, so we'll just leave things as they are ' ......

BWFC Forever, I see that 11 of the teams we have lost to have been top six teams (based on last seasons table).
That surely messes up the stats a little bit ......

Why? Is there some unwritten rule that says ' Bolton and their fans must accept that they will always be beaten by any team that's in the top 6 ?' Other ' non-elite ' teams in the Prem can manage to take points off top 6 opposition (a fact proved true both last season, and this) ... so why should we be any different?

In the period the list looks at, we have gained 3 points off top six opposition, thats taking points off them isn't it?
In the period, we have played 24 times, 12 of which have been against top six oppostion, that surely isn't a fair representation of who we are going to face this season.

As you know ...we've taken nothing off City/Utd/Liverpool/Arsenal in 4 games this season, and we're expected to settle for nowt points-wise against Chelsea next up. Many on here reckon that this is OK, because they're the ' elite ' clubs, and we'll be fine once we play lesser teams. Well, that theory didn't work for us against Norwich ...and in the same period (ie. this season) Newcastle, Sunderland, Blackburn, Stoke (3 times) and Fulham have all drawn with or beaten the 5 ' elite ' teams above. Are these ' lesser ' teams so much better than us? Are they better at all? It does make a nonsense though that the ' elite ' are unbeatable ...so why should we accept that it's OK for us to get tonked, when others have shown that these 5 are not so .....' indestructable'?

You are not listening to what I am saying, we have faced harder opposition that what we SHOULD face over the same amount of games.
I have never said that the top six are unbeatable. In fact, we got 7 points off them last season (ATM, we are one point behind that on last season), but you can't deny that they are harder to beat, thats why they are in the top six, because they dropped less points last season.
You have made a big song and dance about 'being realistic' but when I have said we are less likely to beat this team, suddenly we can .....
