Football loses its integrity once again

When all fans were banned from football stadiums we had an even playing field, albeit an unfortunate one, now those areas which fall within tier 2 can have supporters inside the stadium acting as their 12th man and giving vocal support and a point of focus for the players whereas those of us who fall within tier 3 do not benefit from that advantage. I appreciate the tiers are the fault of this despicable government not football, but I'm afraid by taking advantage of the line thrown, football becomes unbalanced.

Surprised people care this much tbh.

Will 2,000 people make much difference?

For Leicester I think it’s an advantage to us if the opposition have fans, even 2k. They’ll start taunting Vardy and we know what happens then. Can’t begrudge a few fans getting in to see their team!

The season began with no fans in the stadiums so thats how it should end.

The way that the fairness of the situation is just t0ssed aside as if it doesn't matter by some people is ridiculous.

If we have to have these stupid gestures (2k crowd in a 60k stadium) then make it European knock games where theres 2 legs.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Liverpool started with a 25man fit squad, season should be postponed until thats the case again? Everyone agreed to go ahead with the possibility of fans being reintroduced when possible. Not sure why theres a surprise all of a sudden now its possible?

Personally think if theres no need for it financially clubs survival etc the prem should wait until everyones allowed the same low number of fans. But if they agree otherwise, get on with it. We all knew about corona and the issues and what was likely. Each team has unfair advantages or disadvantages on other variables throughout the season, not sure why 2k fans is more of an advantage/disadvantage as some of the others clubs face/
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think injuries, different size stadiums or pitch sizes are the same thing as these things have existed since football began.

This is a new situation for the here and now and should be taken as such. I didn't believe that last season should have been completed with such a big change in circumstances for the last quarter but I accept that Sky held the clubs to ransom and they had no choice but to finish it.

However we don't have to change the situation this time so lets not. The stadiums were empty on day one giving away teams a better chance than they would otherwise have so the reverse fixtures should be the same.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s not new though. It was known before the season started and accepted by clubs. The same as injuries, playing games in different weather, some teams playing others after a mid-week game in Eastern Europe while the other team has a 7-day rest.

Having looked at the responses and what club the person making them supports, (although not exclusively I accept) the view are split along geographic tiers the contributer is based in, so from this we learn that football supporters are still as selfish and partisan as ever
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Arsenals first league game is away to Spurs in a NLD. So they get 2000 fans attending. I don't see it as an issue.
Just as in Europe some opponents have fans. Dont think they have the advantage.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
As a Spurs fan I don't get why we are putting 2k people in the ground as I doubt in a 60k stadium it will make any difference to the atmosphere and we aren't going to make any money out of it.

My point is that when the reverse fixture comes along I don't want 60k in the Emirates the vast majority of which will be cheering on the home team which will make a difference.

This is why it would be so much easier if the Prem clubs kept it to no supporters for the entire season so no advantage is gained.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You will also have your own reverse fixtures against other teams where you will have a full stadium where they didn’t at the beginning. It’s just another variable, of of many that already exists in football and that was known and accepted before the season started.

Of course we know that there will be injuries and bad weather but there is no certainty as to where and when.

The big difference is we have an opportunity to ensure the stadium situation is fair by allowing no fans in for the remainder of this season.

Surely where fairness can be controlled it should be?

Question to the OP.

If you get top four this season by a point largely due to a player you loan out in January scoring a winner against United (behind you in 5th) while you smashed the same team because said player was a crucial player for them would you complain about integrity and demand United have your CL place?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You'll have to give me more time and a blackboard to work out my response to that convoluted scenario and can I just say if you're married I pity your poor husband

So in other words, you only care about "integrity" whenever Leicester are on the receiving end.

10/10 for deflection attempt though!

Of course I only care about Leicester, same as you only care about Spurs - I never denied it and in fact stated earlier we're all partisan, still pity your husband

When we are back to normal all grounds should hold the exact same number of supporters, and if any ground doesn't get that number then the game is postponed, otherwise the integrity of the game is in the bin.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

At the same ground too. How can it be fair that some clubs have slightly different sizes pitches? I think we all know people have been in uproar about this for the past century.

All games should be on the same day at the same stadium or IT'S JUST NOT FAIR.

Until we make all games of football exactly the same its integrity is in the bin.

I hate football.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree with your statement...... Except the last one.

Different size stadia deems various pitch sizes.

We would have to make them smaller to level the playing field to be on an even keel.

I don’t really have a problem with it even if we are in tier 3, it’s hardly going to make a difference in a premier league ground there isn’t going to be mass singing etc. Think this is more to help the lower league teams
