getting back to some form. When a player can do this, he is the perfect man to bring on for the big occasions, as shown by his acrobatic goal in the CL final.
This free-kick is just out of this world. Went very high and spun with speed downward....Makes me want to go and practice...Anyone fancies being in goal?
Didn't score from it, hitting the crossbar, but produced a goal and signs that he is coming back to his form. He may not play full 90 mins, but he will be brought on to make a difference on the pitch.
Watch and enjoy!

Bale freekick yesterday...Signs of him

Well it was a better free kick than Kane has taken in all his 8 years playing at spurs.
There are signs of confidence there. It's like in the other game when he had that bit of skill to get past the defenders. Whether he can keep improving we'll have to see, and he may not be able to do all the defensive duties that Jose wants, but even if all he is is an impact sub then if can make an impact more times than not, he'll be worth it.

was not expecting it to be that good at all. He was terrible all game bar the free kick as well.

It was a great free kick, and Bale deserved a goal for it, he absolutely made the goal with a fantastic free kick. He did not even get an assist, which is criminal.

Bales kinda suffers from people comparing him to the disgustingly high standards he set at spurs before he left, and during his peak years at Madrid.
He was unplayable then. Simply a monster.
What I don't get is why isn't he like ibra, Messi, Ronaldo etc and still at a high level, even if age has played a part?
Did he have some crazy injury I don't know about as I don't get the drop off? Did he just sit stale in the stands and fall out of love with football at Madrid or is there another factor?

Firstly I think those 3 are better players than Bale. Secondly, he hasn't played much football in the past few seasons so that would affect how good he looks I'd have thought. Still a chance he can get back to a good standard with more time.

The reason he was so great in the first place was his freak level athleticism, he was always going to decline pretty badly once injuries/age took that away.
It should come as no surprise to anyone with even basic level football knowledge.

True, but he is probably a good enough player to adapt his game so that he can still change games and score goals.
Shearer did it when an injury caused him to lose his pace and athleticism. Giggs also when he lost his pace. I'm sure there are many more examples.

Well I agree he was a freak athlete but still going from a guy that scored one of the best goals I've seen in a final a few years back to barely getting minutes is a pretty big decline. I just didn't know if there were other factors. Rooney I always said would have a rapid decline but bale isn't one I expected to happen. He still looks fit physically and as brother said I'd expect him to adapt and still be a problem for teams even if he is a bit slower. Bales 31 that's hardly an age where players that naturally gifted drop that many levels.

If you watch Bale, his technique is silky. His awareness and touch and link up with players is lovely. Its the sort of skill set that needs a little bit of time to get up to match speed, but also for others to get on the same wave length as him
I would say he has all the technique and vision of Kane and probably still more pace and skills so he defo should be able to make a very decent impact in the team....even if he's like NDombele and only ever lasts 60-70 muinutes.

I agree and hope you're right
