Is there a change...

...afoot in terms of press and communication.

What with the YEP interview with Harvey and then a couple of articles on the club site about contract discussions underway and also about East Stand re-re-location of fans where he is quoted, I was wondering if the flack KB has taken lately [whether right or wrong] has lead to a new approach with Harvey taking more of a role in communications.

He seems more naturally a mature and pragmatic and sensible chap.

Or is it just a temporary respite from KB whilst he is having a board meeting with himself in St Kitts and Nevis or wherever the parent company is these days.

Well, Leeds60, he did mention Bowyer wanting to stay near his family in East London. Fair enough. Stockdale is on a 24-hour recall which apparently wasn't acceptable to Leeds.

Andrews - fair point. More money?

Were we actually after Johnson and Norris? If the former, presumably linking up with his manager at City helped and possibly greater contribution to City coffers.

As to Norris I can't remember. Was it reported we were after him? Can't recall where.

Leeds60 we were rumoured to be in for these players, but was that true or agents, Stockdale missus said her man wanted to come to Leeds, l cant remember Leeds saying they were trying to sign him only that he was an option, i believe 1st choice was Lonergan who we signed, just because someone eles says were trying to sign a player it may be agents or press speculation , IT MIGHT NOT BE TRUE

Interesting to note that the club have highlighted that contract negotiations are under way with various 1st teamers. Whilst it's no suprise, it is progress on the comms front; being told what's going on rather than let the rumour mill work overtime.

I don't think Ken is totally quiet, apparently he has been giving the field of history, the benefit of his vast store of knowledge of the subject. He does not like them using the term B.(Before) C.(Christian, or Common) E.(Era), instead of B(Before) C(Christ). Similarly he objects to the use of A.(After) C.(Christ, or Christos) instead of A.D.(Anno Domini, or In the year of the/Our Lord). I think he is trying to curry favour with the more populist fans of the club.
Is NJS still in the Roman Emperor phase, period? Personally I quite like his rose one. When 40 A.D.= 40 A.C. and 40 B.C.= 40 B.C.E.. I feel I have lost the wil to live. When I think of Ken Bates and this important issue words come to mind, but I would have to use ** to spell them.

It's good that the club have decided to open communications with the fans about transfers, contracts etc. Whether it's true or not what Harvey's been saying, atleast we're being told about it.

Seriously though, you;re right, it's important fo rteh fans to hear this.

I'd like to see our squad pages show some conractual details ie contracted until which date, which are under discussion etc. It's not as if the club is giving out information that any club or agent couldn't find out via a phone call.

Would also like to see a fitness status for players so then we'd know how till till we could expect players back.

Always wondered whether, by giving private medical details of the player, the club is in contravention of the Data Privacy Act. Maybe players do sign away this right in the contract but why would they?

Also, why would any business give their competitor inside information?

Just does not make any sense to make such information public.

Sorry to be cynical, but it sounds to me like Jonty's mate the sports agent cannot get any information out of Leeds United for him to suggest such a daft idea?

Could be wrong, could be right!

middlesexwhite hits the nail squarely on the head -

.....why would any business give their competitors inside information?...

and he is right when he says that it ...just does not make any sense to make such information public....

No change, all part of the process leading up to several more players exiting ER. They are simply getting their point first.

Middlesex, do you really think our competitors are that bothered about knowing if somma is out for 6 months or 5? Or that conolly might have a knee problem etc?

The benefit is that the fans feel they're not being kept at arms length

American sports do it just fine.
