4-1-4-1 anybody?

He was saying he’s was confused how we lost and will drive home wondering how we lost.

Erm, we created very little and we’re always vulnerable due to our defensive issues. But yeah, I also can’t believe how we lost?!

I found that baffling too. I could see exactly why we lost and thought Everton deserved it. They never looked out of control of the game and picked us off.

Not enough width, bad team selection; at least we tried to move the ball a bit faster at times, but not enough and no killer pass around the box. As for Perez, he should be embarrassed about that. 100% looking for it.

Rodgers has to come up with some different ideas, like getting Under on the left hand side, hugging touchlines to get around deep defences. Because that's four times now we've conceded the first goal at home and it's wiped us out of the game.

You could see from the 13th minute we were never going to win that game last night. Everton looked in control defensively and we had no answers.

It’s games like this where we miss Castagne and Pereira to create a totally different attacking threat. Let’s not forget our full first choice back line was out and as much as I love Fuchs, he looked out of his depth in last nights game.

Really hope we can get a result against our current nemesis Spurs. Their counter attacking style will be difficult to deal with though. Secondly a time to revert to Man City game tactics.

Who can sit the deepest?!

First ten twenty minutes and you could be telling if we'll win a match or not cos the manager can't help it. Sluggish starts in all our defeats, and all our five defeats this season were key to us challenging for the league title. It's a mental thing.. The manager is good but not good enough to challenge for the league.

I'm not sure it's so much the manager as not having the attacking players needed. If you look across the top clubs, the ones that genuinely challenge at the top of the table, they all have at least two serious attacking threats. For Liverpool's Salah, they also have Mane. For Tottenham's Kane, they also have Son. Man City have Aguero plus any number of talented players. I'm not sure Chelsea have their number 9 sorted but they have several options, most notably Pulisic. We have Vardy, but you can't put the rest of the forward players we have in the same bracket as Mane, Son, Sterling and Pulisic. We may like Barnes and Under, but they're not on the same level.

In 15/16, we had Mahrez on great form, making that double threat with Vardy that the rest of the team worked to release. With this team, we're most notably short that extra class players for opposition defences to be scared of.

I take your point Dunge, but shouldn’t Barnes and Under be those two players?

Yes they may struggle against the top teams but not in games where a team are set to dig in.

Maybe with some development, but they're not there yet. I think elsewhere on the pitch we have some super talent, albeit I think the youth of our back line is causing us to concede some goals that we shouldn't. But I don't see that same talent in forward areas.

Plus, I thought it was plainly obvious we were going to concede last night when I saw Barnes, Vardy and Under starting. There's attacking and then there's reckless. I know some people are excited about the prospect but to me it's asking for trouble. Like the other side of the coin from starting Ndidi and Mendy as a double pivot.

I agree with the defensive frailties. I think last night is a game that highlights how much we miss our first choice fullbacks supporting in attack.

4-2-3-1 with Castagne and Pereira feels like a very different prospect.
