The * was actually against the Cypriot league. They still awarded European places by league position with Omonia getting the CL place on a head to head despite having a poorer GD than the 2nd place team on the same points!
Each league has their process.

I really thought St Mirren were excellent.
We should still have beaten them but they did a number on us.
I compare it to the United game at the weekend - although it was only 2-1 no-one could have complained if it finished 4 or 5-1.
I thought United were awful, couldnt string two passes together and never really threatened until they threw a couple of bodies forward in the last few minutes.
St Mirren didnt put us under any real pressure but they did at least probe a bit and attacked specific areas with purpose.
They did very well to take the few chances they created and earned their win.
We didnt respond quick enough to the set up or the setbacks in the game and it cost us.
