Can we please agree that there is no change to the system/style of play that could get more out of this squad.
We had the different styles before. With a lot of the same players and we couldn’t finish in the top half of the Championship. Now we are playing better stuff, winning more points, in a division higher. The difference in standard is huge.
Yes we have problems. Like pretty much every side. We will work on them. We will have more bad games like the one against West Ham. And we do need better players to get further up the league. But look what we are achieving with this squad and see that with 2 or 3 more signings we will make another big leap forward.

If after watching the way we play, and joy it has given the fans, these past three years, you want to change tactics
I really don’t think football is for you
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe you are right....I've only played on grass with pitch markings and never played the game on a screen, my football life leaves a lot to be desired.

Think probably it is just modern football you don’t understand.
Judging by your thoughts on bamford these past 18 months, it looks that way

Reading the thread think the track has been lost a little!
Regarding the style, it’s amazing, the football is slimiest fantasy at times.. what comes with this, is risk - thing is, it’s not changing, and I don’t want it to either! Would of taken this during the league 1 days all day long.. my thought chain is enjoy it now, the good, the bad, and the mouth watering.. because when it’s not here, we will wish it was.
Will this style win titles.?. I don’t think so, sorry, maybe wrong, but title winning teams build from a solid defensive unit, incorporating their style.. as NJS rightly points out, kompany, VVD etc... those alone didn’t make them successful, they simply completed the defensive unit.

Perhaps we should all vote, so we know where we stand: do you want a forum where it's a cosy Leeds fans 'love in' intolerant of opposing opinions that the majority don't share?
Or a forum where football opinions other than exclusively Leeds fans opinions are tolerated even if you don't agree with them?
An example is my opinions come in for abuse as does Lowfields and The Donn...just because a majority don't like their opinions it doesn't mean they're entitled to the shameful and unnecessary abuse they receive, it's pathetic!
You read on this forum quite often the same tired old cliches if you don't agree with someones categorical opinion, here's a selection: "you don't go to matches"
"Why don't you go back to reading teletext".
"why don't you support another club?" "You must be blind if you don't enjoy how we play" well reading the forum when we win, everyone's enjoying the way we play....but I don't read all this stuff when we lose, or lose badly....dare I say there won't be much enjoyment of how we play if we are near the relegation zone, you can stick that "enjoying the way we play" right up your 'arris.
Faith, maybe you should delete posts that disagree with your opinions and themes....give a warning "anyone who disagrees with my opinions shall be deleted!" Because as I've found out it just encourages those that think this is exclusively the Leeds United Cosy Club.
Some on here need to be on tranquillisers, if they're not already, a different opinion to theirs seems to send them into an uncontrollable abuse mode, have they tried an anger management course?!
Read my lips THIS IS A FORUM for football opinion not to get off on personal abuse if someone disagrees with your opinion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have no interest in deleting any posts. Why don't you try responding to my last comment to you if you would like to debate.....debate. Like I have done with you on this thread.

One thing which really separates Bielsa from the majority of managers is his preference for a small squad.
One advantage that does given opposition managers is plenty of opportunity to analyse the same players perform together the same roles week in week out with little or no variation in tactics.
The biggest concern has to be that managerial analysis of Bielsa’s set up will only accumulate. We are only 13 games in, but entertaining or not, sooner or later there will have developed a default approach for neutralising our style of play.
While it is clear that the players are best suited to the style of play Bielsa implements, the one element missing is the ability to change and adapt when a particular team comes prepared for Bielsa’s Leeds and is confronted with a teamj able to mix up that style.
Analyse any of the top teams and you see the ability to rapidly change tempo is employed to great effect.
Having that element of unpredictability has a role to play in neutralising opposition teams and for sure I have kk doubt it is something Bielsa needs to work on as the season progresses.
These players have mostly master the style Bielsa implements every game, so adding an alternative approach allowing us to play at a different tempo will have its place in the Premeir League.
As with all members, these are just my thoughts base on observations and as such we all respect the viewpoints held by others and appreciate the analysis given by other members about how they formulated their own conclusions.
So a good post Faith.....I agree with a lot of it and don’t doubt the entertainment or effectiveness; my only question is as to whether Bielsa will need to add an element of unpredictability to our approach as teams gradually figure out the most effective way to go about neutralising our style and preparing for it, knowing that currently, Bielsa never changes the approach of his teams.
It is mere a concern which I raise about the coming second half of the season....

Interesting post, that. I guess it's no surprise that Pochettino also favours a small squad. And, obviously, that didn't win us any trophies. I think more to the point, though, it won't win you anything at the top level without top players in every position. Bielsa's style isn't that far removed from Klopp really. You need that kind of squad to pull it off in the PL and in Europe.

Good post, Esteramos. I watched Newcastle press us high up, just like Man City, Chelsea and West Ham did. They couldn't keep it up but they nonetheless caused stress at the back early on, when Meslier plays out a simple ball to the back four or Kalvin. Forcing Meslier to kick long and give away possession is a tactic that seems to be developing, particularly if we have a side that is better playing with the ball on the grass, rather than in the air.
