Penalty 'all day long'

Seems like Michael Stewart made a fool of himself in his analysis of the Hagi incident on Saturday.

BBC's own online expert analysis shows that in those circumstances where the high boot makes no contact with the (nearby) opposing player but deters/prevents that opposing player from challenging for the ball the referee's decision should be INDIRECT FREE KICK, not a penalty.

In not knowing that - like many other players and ex-players on these programmes - Michael Stewart showed his ignorance of the rules of the game.

Secondly, the Hibs player dropped to the deck clutching his face when several camera angles showed that there had been no contact. That's a yellow card for simulation. Stewart was happy to ignore that

I hope on his next appearance he 'mans up' and apologises for these two errors.

Others for consideration:

- a throw in can only be received outside of the opponent's penalty box to get rid of the mutants that use it like a corner.

Yes rather annoying I remeber MON Celtic doing it, with Hartson even leaving the pitch at the near post to get a better run at it coming in. Against the rules as it is leaving the pitch without permission. Though I digress

- at a penalty get rid of the rebound into open play - especially since the new hand ball interpretation getting the penalty is possibly over-rewarded far less getting a chance to net a rebound as well.

Yes decent idea and save all the mucking about on the edge of the box, keeper saves it or it hits the post/bar then restart with a goal kick.

- attacking players must be at least a metre from the opposition keeper at corners like at the FK wall - I realise a metre gap is easily closed once the kick is taken so maybe outside the 6yd area - dunno, seems too much obstruction goes on?
Yes and it would probably add to the attacking play they spend that much time around the keeper they forget about the ball

No idea who dreams up stuff to change.
I mean 1 guy can take the KO and can play it directly back.
Fek thats revolutionised the game

Talk in England of EPL taking a 2 week ‘time out’ to get on top of the protocols again. Would be carnage up here if Nic chooses to ‘get ahead of the curve’ and cancel the OF game.

Duke

I recall Wenger demanding FIFA ban throw ins because his Arsenal team couldn't handle Stoke and Rory Delap.

Crouchy spoke about it on his podcast (which is good btw). He said Delap just did it in training one day and the manager - Pulis I think - got him to do it again to prove it wasn't a fluke. Turns out Delap was a Javelin thrower when younger

Stoke were a defensive team but throw ins were as good as corners after that. Delap hadn't been much of a regular starter before then.

There must be a fookin rules committee with fook all to do
The kick off change served no purpose and I don’t know what the fook it was supposed to fix
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It saved 2 people having to be there to start a game and the daft stopping the game if it didn't go forward.

Minor thing solved but hardly a priority of what heeded changed

How can a guy who clearly doesn’t know the rules of the game , be employed to analyse the games, the guy is an ignorant buffoon of a man but perhaps he does know them and is only putting out his Rangers hating Rhetoric for other reasons 🤔

He referred to Celtic as "we" as well.
Don't mind that if you're not trying to hide it
