Decent and mature performance from Calum last night. Hopefully it is a sign that he has finally decided to knuckle down and learn. As Frank says in the link below, he still has plenty to add to his game to become a top class winger, but this is a very young player still and as his confidence rises, so hopefully will his talent and he will start taking on and beating defenders.

Decent was the right description. He wasn’t much of a threat to Villa but it was much improved from both his earlier season form and from werner’s recent performances on the wing.
With Ziyech now still injured it’s a good chance for him to stake a claim to start

What's key now (IMO) is Frank has to keep him in the team even if he has a one poor performance. You sense him doing a sort of carrot & stick play with him, well his last two performances have earned a carrot
Play him vs. City (if it goes ahead of course) & if he stinks up the place no panic, take him off, rest him in the cup, and pick him for the next PL match. Needs to feel trusted for a bit.

As far as what is right for CHO right now, I totally agree with your post. But, with Frank under a bit of pressure for wins, if Ziyech is fit, what will Frank do?

This is dependent on other’s form/fitness. If Ziyech comes back in contention too than yes CHO will be dropped if he stinks the place out again

Difficult balance but would be in the forefront of my thinking in Lampard's position. At some point he needs to convey through his selections that CHO is trusted & off the back of two good, mature performances is a good time, and arguably with him under pressure to get results personally it'll mean even more to the player if he did now.
But yeah, difficult juggling act.
