Big win for us tonight. Second on the table just 2 points behind the self proclaimed "best team in the world"
But of course we're not title contenders apparently. Yeah , ok ...
Our wing play though is literally non-existent. Luke Shaw was ok when he came on but AWB is almost useless going forward. He doesn't provide much in an attacking sense down that right side. He's clearly not comfortable crossing the ball into the box.The amount of times he had a chance to put in a cross but instead turned back and played it short was frustrating. Cavani was visibly annoyed for much of the night.
Wing play has always been a big part of United's DNA and it'll certainly make us a much more dangerous team.
Anyways , a win is a win is a win ... And in Fergie time as well
Great way to finish 2020.

Diogo Dalot is supposed to be playing well for Milan. I'd rather see that lad at RB than AWB when we are playing anyone bar the top 3 or 4 teams. Them are the only games that AWB shines.

AWB is an excellent defender, who's brilliant at, you know, defending.
It's a shame that he can do absolutely nothing going forward for us, which sadly we require seeing as we have no attacking right-winger.

He hasn't played much in the league for them. Mostly Europa.
He would fit in great at a side like wolves playing wing back, but in a back four he'd get destroyed.

I actually don’t think he’s bad when he drops a shoulder and goes. His problem is a lack of confidence/belief. It’s almost like he’s been given the ball by a Pogba/Bruno who then drop off, and because he knows they have quality, he doesn’t dare take the initiative.

Thought Telles started the game really well with some nice crossing, then Traore got going.
But yeah, our full backs are not fit for purpose...

AWB was incredible at Palace. First season in the first team and literally the best defensive full back in the league, he was that good.
Problem is, we're don't get put under the kind of pressure Palace did that season. I really like him, but you've got to play him in games where he'll make a difference, not games like today.

OP I noticed the same thing
AWB is a poor full back for the modern game and especially for a team who needs to break down opposition defences.
I notice utd inadvertly end up creating attacking overload on the left forcing the opposition to shift across to combat this. What this does is temporarily leaves acres of space on the right for us to take advantage of but can't with AWB

AWB is first and foremost a defender. He's being asked to do two jobs because we don't have a right winger.
It might be more modern to have attacking fullbacks, but not necessarily better.
