I don't remember there being much debate over Guen's overall ability and potential, just his childish conduct. And I don't think there's many left who doubt that AMN can be a brilliant CM (if kept playing there) anymore. Nobody questioned Partey's quality before he came and he's shown us no reason to the little we've seen.
We currently own all 3 with it seeming like Arteta's more than happy to throw away two, I can't help thinking that from those 3 players we can have at worst, an outstanding MF 2. And at best an MF 3 for the next 5 years, capable of dominating their MF. That's a slim chance of AMN/Guen being able to adapt as CAM. But I think just as they are, that's a good enough 3 to handle most of the PL anyway.
There's something seriously wrong with a club owning that much talent in 3 players already, talking/thinking about buying others in that area, without at least first exploring the possibility by having all three playing/ rotating together. Arteta needs to suck it up, eat up all his humble pie and make that happen. The man's sat on a potential MF gold mine and about to flog it off for a price less than a tin one is worth. The shot at having a kickass 3 for years, is just too good an opportunity to pass on. And if he does, it's yet another thing on the list of "Reasons to sack him just for sheer stupidity."

Guen is done at the club. His only way back is if Arteta goes.

Do you really think AMN will be a top CM? Yes he's done fine there in the limited chances he's had, but he's not at Partey's level or anywhere close. Do you genuinely think AMN is a player who would get into the starting XI of a top-4 team in that position? He has a lot of versatility and is a good all-rounder which clearly makes him a solid squad player, but he's not top-drawer.
For me Guen was a better prospect at CM, he's still only 21 as well so time to improve. But I expect it's more likely he'll be sold to the highest bidder to give us funds for other transfers, rather than returning to us. That may change with a different man at the helm though.

If AMN gets left a CM (odd stand inns at WB when we have to face quality at opposition LW aside) then yes, I do believe he will become a top CM. You don't get to Partey's level without playing in the position band learning it's nuances. But for comparison with/to the big man. He's quicker with and without the ball. Also more nimble and tricky, two footed, equally good if not better because of his pace, at tackling. Now he's definitely not going to get as physically big as Partey obviously.
That leaves pass quality, MF vision and shooting. All 3 can be learnt by playing in the position and for all we know, he's got the vision but never gotten to play CM long/old enough to be confident enough in the 1st team to display it. "Solid versatility," isn't enough to contain the number of top wingers he has at times. People get so caught up in this squad thing and it's purely by chance he's ended up there. For sake of argument my stance is basically that had Bellerin not gotten injured when he did. Wenger would have stuck with AMN in MF, slowly bringing on his talents.
As for other 11's, first of he could walk into ANY of them bar Liverpool's and be a WB. So that's no "squad player" As for their MF's, It;s not about if he could walk into theirs. The article is about the fact that as the club's fortunes currently stand, he's both too good to not be playing in ours and too good to let go without damned well seeing how doing that goes first. Worst case is it doesn't work and we keep/flog him as a top WB, either way we win. Kinda the same for bringing Guen back to try it. Point is just that our current ownership of all 3 and their collective level of talent, exploring options is a must and much easier than buying two better prospects.

I'd personally like to see AMN in CM partnered with Partey. He's imo better than Elneny and has that pace to drive past players.
No harm in giving him a little run it's not like the current crop Xhaka/Elneny/Ceb are doing any better.

Exactly, one of those things that even if was something the manager hadn't intended to try, the run of results and the state of our MF vs those player's known ability, say "We should probably give this a quick whirl before buying/selling anyone." Way I see it, it's a nothing to lose with everything to gain, scenario.
Besides I'm convinced that there's no way we let both AMN and Guen go and don't go on to watch one if not both, sold for a lot of money by whoever takes them off us. One or other, at least, will become a payday.
