On the couch due to having COVID and been watching pure 80’s films. So far I’ve watched Temple of Doom, Lost Boys, Great Outdoors and The Burbs. Might watch one more. Any ideas...

Running man was a favourite along with big trouble in little China. Blows my mind to think the later was deemed a flop when it came out.

The thing, Big Trouble and Escape from NY.
What a trilogy!
Should’ve got Kurt into They Live, too. Can’t watch Rowdy Roddy and help wonder why it isn’t Kurt

I cannot BELEIVE people left porky's off the list
If you want to watch safe movies virtually no one could object to by all means watch ferris Beuller's day off. I also love that film.
But if you are going to dip into the 80s you have to go for the stuff that virtually every PC campaigner would have a fit over.
blazing saddles. (yes its not 80s but it should be a good precursor. and must be added to any non pc list)
airplane
caddyshack
porky's
police academy (only no 1)
trading places
planes, trains and automobiles.
I'm sure i'm forgetting lots.

Isn't they live what got him his directing break but the grief the studio gave him for big trouble the reason he shied away from big films after? May be wrong but I remember something along them lines.
Piper is awesome in that movie though tbh. Much as I love Kurt I don't think he could've replaced RR in that role. It was epic.

Rollerball.Great action all the way through and powerfully emotional finale when James Caan is the last man standing and the crowd are chanting his name as, battered and bloodied, he skates around the track on his own before slamming the ball into the 'net''.
