So it's confirmed that Slimani has moved to Lyon on a permanent deal.
No mention of a fee, we probably paid them!
Must go down as the worst Transfer ever for the Club, at least monetary wise.
Always liked him, I wish him well

Finally got his wages off the books, we normally do our business well but this signing has been a disaster. 28 million as well.

Well, Slow is correct, the slowest exit in football history.
Even Rodgers lost patience with him almost instantly after giving him his reprieve.
Clearly something was badly wrong here and it’s best for all parties that it’s ended.
Like Drinkwater, he seems a very “complex character”.

I have to disagree there, Mersey. I don’t think he’s a complex character at all. I think as I always have done that he has a very high opinion of his own abilities and isn’t the slightest bit a team player.
That said, he did score some Champions League goals for us, including the one that sank Porto at home. And he did know where the net was. On that basis, it’s hard to say that he’s proven a bigger waste of money than Adrien Silva.
For the fee, I expect it has been arranged such that he won’t miss out on any monies from his Leicester contract. Therefore my guess would be that he’s probably effectively gone for free with Lyon paying the remainder.

Good luck to him in his new venture.
I'm not sure it's really very fair to paint Slimani as the worst deal of all time, his goalscoring record isn't that bad. Ian at £25M hasn't exactly been a great success - yet! How about Ahmed Musa at £16M? There are others.
This failed acquisition is however another indication of the problem that we face with every forward while we struggle to solve the Vardy problem - which looms larger with every passing day.

I did think of Musa, Nuneaton, but didn't we sell him on for a profit to a lunatic? If so, he can't be considered bad business.

Slow is by far the worst financially as a ‘team’ player, can’t see how anyone could argue otherwise.
