Seems everyone is just debating Hendo/Philips/Williams at CB against ManU.
But do we certainly know Matip is out?
So is Matip out?

If he's fit enough for the bench I think you should start him.

klopp has put in thiago after 1 session.
henderson after 1 session
Fabinho as well.
Matip however is a disaster zone. Its a risk to throw him in but also a risk to not throw him in so it needs to be very much a balance.
the very worst thing possible is to end up injuring him and then tearing the formation apart to get henderson to cb.
If he stats then please just sub on another cb FFS

I'd throw Matip in. We all know he will be injured again very soon even if we let him get back to full fitness, so if there's a risk, we might as well take it. Phillips would be good against Burnley's aerial threat next week anyway.

Tbh whether we rush him back or not, he’ll be injured again in a few weeks anyway. Might as well get him in for a big game. If he’s fit enough to play then he’ll start imo.

Like Ivan Drago said in Rocky 4 "If he dies, he dies"
Same logic with Matip in this game.

So like Apollo creed, you’d want us to not take the match seriously, throw him in totally unfit against a big challenger and see him get his @ss handed to him, never to play again?

With VVD and Gomez injured, and no centre back signing looking likely, we might as well use him if/when we can. Play once, miss four. I'll take that!

It's likely that a lot of mind games have gone into Klopp's comments before the game. If he's selected, it's certainly a bonus, if he isn't then it wouldn't come as a surprise either.

He trained today with the full squad, if he trains tomorrow I'm sure he'll play

Personally if Joel is not fit I play the natural central backs with Fab, Hendo, and Thiago in midfield. Dominate the ball, win the game
