Why is everyone acting as if Oziil is a club legend.
He was an absolute failure and turned out to be a bad signing, overall.
Yes he was gifted with natural skill and technique, but we barely seen it.
He had a lazy attitude from the very beginning, which is why he wasn't a success here.
So please, stop getting on as if he is some club legend.
I can even think of average players we have had that have brought more to the team.
Mesut ozil was gifted but he was a flop at arsenal!
Mesut Ozil was a flop

He scored a great goal v Newcastle a couple of seasons ago

It's a minority although very loud and deluded. Let them have their moment and just be happy he's finally left

Decent enough return but as an opposition fan I was never worried about ozil playing. In fact you guys have a better record against us in recent years and you’ve been even worse as a side! Fml!
Sad how it all turned sour though. The guy was a classy player on his day

Lol what was it?
£350k a week for the past 3 years and he’s played about 10 games with the current weirdo manager even axing him from the playing squad. As if arsenal can afford to have that much money to pour down the drain.

Not ideal but yes, we clearly could afford it

Great player at Madrid and Germany but he was surrounded by elite players.
At Arsenal he never had that and he didn't have it in him to inspire or raise other players to a higher level. Played the role of the Invisible Man brilliantly. Also at times his attitude and mentality were beyond the pale. Embarassing to watch.
I think the owner and the board also failed to get the players in to accommodate his talent. Who knows what could've been.
Ozil legacy at Arsenal will always be a should've been legendary but wasn't legacy.

Wouldn’t say he was a flop but was never a great player.
Couldn’t rely on him in the tougher games.

Why are you so obsessed with Ozil? You need help.

Say Ozil’s biggest fangirl

Lazy? His stats in games were always high. Most distance covered, most sprints etc. He lost form when we lost Sanchez. He needed willing runners and as soon as we didn't have them he was wasted. When he was on form, especially pre 2017 he was one of the best midfielders in the world. His contribution to the team and play was immense. Not so much towards the end because of my earlier point but you can't take away from him what he earned.

Due to the money he cost in fee and wages, and the expectations of such a class player, he has to go down as a flop.
What he never seemed to realise was, when playing in arguably the fastest league in the world; how you play with the ball, and how you play without the ball requires 100% effort from all 10 outfield players.
When Arsenal had the ball he was all over the pitch demanding the ball or moving between the lines to make himself available for it. When we lost the ball, however, he may as well have just sat down on the grass wherever he was stood. He literally did nothing to help the team. You just can't do that and get away with it and, eventually, he wasn't able to.
