Odegaard coming ?

According to skysports, the Norwegian is wanted on loan.
Was supposed to be the next big thing. Any good?

Not that keen on getting another Real/Barca loanee. They've always got one eye on going back anyway. If we're not going to do this seriously and just stump up the cash for a known decent player. Then we should just use what we've got until the summer when should be able to spend more.

Our BS, penny pinch approach to the transfer market has been and still is the manager's biggest handicap. It's got to stop if we want to seriously challenge for any top honours. ke doesn't have to go Roman crazy spend and blow 200 mil a time. But Arteta shouldn't have to haggle over a 45 mil fee a la Partey last summer. That shoulda been signed off on the first day he mentioned it. Not near deadline day after sending him back to A.M to beg first. That crap has to stop.

But in the current situation, i.e. half way through the season, who are we really going to get other than loans or possibly someone with contract issues? Any decent player is very unlikely to be let go half way through the season, unless they push to jump ship (and who's doing that to join Arsenal right now?) We can't even get a player we want from the Championship right now.

If ESR hadn't come through like he has then I'd agree with you 100% that we would be desperate to fill that position, but as it is we mainly need someone to ease the workload and pressure on him until the end of the season. A decent level loanee who wants some game time is not a bad option.

That's why I say don't bother. Loaning Nelson and Willock out only to look for players who are just the same but at another club, is just disruptive to the squad. Nelson's Europa performances first half of the season and all performances post lockdown last, say he is actually good enough to share that spot with ESR. So Arteta should let him, especially since he links just as well with Saka and Martinelli as ESR. Though the two have different games.

Changed my name in expectation. Looks like Ødegaard is a goer.

Nelson and Willock don't give us creativity, ESR is all we have right now as a number 10. Odegaard on loan would be a no brainer if we can get it done.

I disagree, in regard to Nelson at least. Have noticed, he takes the lead whenever the two play together. Just because he's not tricksy flicksy in his way of doing it, doesn't mean he can't provide creativity at all. When you watch our youngster play together, one thing becomes clear quite quickly, the more of them in the positions across the front 4 (in a 4-2-3-1) is the more creative they become as a unit. As I've heard almost all of them put it in interviews, when they all get to play together, they're "buzzin"

That's the vibe that brings out the best in all of them. So set a solid MF and defence behind them as we can now do and let 'em go at it. With Laca, Pepe and Auba also in the mix and so many able to play either side, we've got the players comfortably to rotate. To me Odegaard is just another blocker to Arsenal players that Arteta should at least be attempting to play. I might feel differently if he'd given Nelson, Willock and AMN fair cracks this season but he hasn't. And I believe that's for his own petty reasons not because he thinks he can't win games doing so.

* Scratch that if Ceballos is being sent back. Forgot about him. If he goes and Odegaard comes that's fine, I was thinking he was being loaned as well as.

Willock has had more than a chance and he's clearly not the guy. Nelson seems more suited as a wide AM/wing forward than a direct no. 10. Plus Arteta clearly doesn't rate him as much as you do.

That's why I said players to rotate. As for Arteta's not rating him, I think Nelson is one of those players I'm on about when I say they're being kept out of the first team for reasons that have nothing to do with Arteta thinking he can't get the results with them. Same as AMN, it's personal.
