Right now more than ever it seems a decent thing to do rather than disappear considering the pandemic. Some people have relationships and care for others. Work on yourself.

I'm glad he said something. He's a wonderful human and am glad for this thread, even though I'd prefer he didn't need to write it.

I really feel sorry for you that you didn't get to know him even a little bit to know why he might feel inclined to write this. I'd happily swap 100 of you for one of him posting on this site.

Thanks for the very kind words, I appreciate it. I've enjoyed talking to yourself over the last couple of years - you are a fantastic poster for the site! And I've a learned a lot.

It's not often on here I find someone to talk politics, music, books and football. I still have the playlist bookmarked, so I will be sure to give it a listen from time to time. Also, I've got the rest of the Hainish Cycle books to read!! The only let down is that article you promised to write years ago (only kidding)!!

Anyway I know things are a bit crazy right now, so I hope you take care and stay safe.

I’m sorry to learn that you’re leaving. I hope you and your family are alright.

You’re one of the posters that I’ve learned the most from over the years and that I’ve really missed since I left the politics thread. It was always a pleasure chatting about politics and philosophy, in particular, so thank you for that.

You’ll be a real loss to the site: there aren’t so many around with such an obvious and genuine compassion for and interest in other posters or the wider world, or displaying such patience, levelheadedness or openness to new ideas and those of others.

I hope you feel like you’ll be more than welcome to pop in again or even fully re-engage should you change your mind at some point in the future.
