My view......7/10 or a B for a newly promoted side competing against established teams, the vast majority of which have had heavy Premier League finances at their disposal.
No team promoted to the Premier League in the last 15 years have won more matches than Leeds at the half way stage.
And we’ve not had that much use yet out of all of our four £100m signings.
So, we could actually have done better.
Task now is to gain 10 points by end of March before a very tough set of fixtures. That’d allow us to get to the end of the season without undue stress, and to get ready for the next stage of investment (and a new pitch) in the summer
Half way report?

Regarding Bamford I don't think it helps that he has no competition in that role. When he goes off form he still knows he will play week in week out. I do like Bamford but do think we need another striker as well for competition.

As much as I'm a big fan of Patrick, I do feel as a club we need to be ruthless.
In the early Seventies there were two clubs vying to be top dog, us and Liverpool..
They came out on top because they were ruthless I.e when the boot room boys decided it was thanks but its time to move you on, you were gone.
We allowed the greats to grow old together - too much loyalty and sentiment. We can't make that mistake again.
For me the new additions plus Kalvin, Meslier, Ayling and Harrison fit into the Keep and progress with; just about everyone else needs to be replaced .
Don't get me wrong I will be eternally grateful to them all but we have to be realistic to climb this league.

It's about phasing out players. Not changing everything all at once.

Where did I say change all at once - only when we can and sensibly my point was about sentiment.

It’s an 8/10 at least for me
It’s been an excellent season
To get 14 is it from relegation and safe in mid table is an exception effort for a newly promoted side
Let’s take a few factors into this:
-We’ve been injury ravaged
-We’ve spent money on 4 players, 2 of which are always injured
-The side is effectively a championship team in terms of Meslier, Ayling, Cooper, KP, Dallas, Bamford, Harrison, Klich are all regulars now and were then.
-We’ve in effect 2 of our 3 key players last season in White and Pablo
A hell of a lot to build on for us. Rodrigo I feel is a very talented player who will get better with time. Meslier, Harrison, Dallas, Phillips, Ayling and Bamford have proved themselves to be PL players. Rafinha looks a real find.
The framework is there to build on. Doesn’t need an overhaul. Add a left back, defender (If Llorente can’t get himself fit) a midfielder and a 10 and there is a real chance to build

It may be that when they signed Koch, they knew he would need surgery at some point and anticipated that by buying Llorente? Pure conjecture, of course. Struijk's on a steep learning curve so wobbles and furcups are to be expected - reckon he's doing alright at CB.
And with regard to the discussion on the Marathe/49ers investment, Jonty, you say you hear the same spiel from him, that he avoids answering the questions put to him, etc., but he has at least put their money where his mouth is?
I've gone from wondering how well we could do after the first few games to wondering whether we'll make this season safe more recently. I predicted 9th at the start and now think 12th is pretty good. I still hope we'll do better but like most, the bottom line is avoiding the relegation scrap. This season is still presenting surprise results so anything could happen, but I'm revising my expectations to settle for 12th or thereabout.
Pushing for sixth in five to seven seasons' time, as AR suggested in that interview? I do hope we'll be pushing for that by 22-23, at least...

listen to the interview question at 2:45, simple question about buying into ER, lengthy non answer, followed up by another simple question about motivation and ER, and loads of hot air about how great a clubs Leeds is blah blah blah and completely avoiding the question.
An expert at saying absolutely nothing whilst throwing in the tired old cliches.

Your comment about Leeds regressing is probably as bad as Lowfields comments imho.
I see you have watched Leeds games for 4 years. Most on here endured the past 16 years of hell week in week out and that’s probably why you see things completely different to everybody else. The last 4 seasons in the championship were decent collectively compared to the previous 12 year. Good season under monk. 1/2 good season under TC. 2 good seasons under bielsa. Go find some full match videos of the Bates years and your rating will explode to an A*

Two (successful) businessmen are asked by journalists how a 50mill injection of capital is going to be used. Is it not completely normal that they should avoid giving a straight answer?
It may be that at least some of it will be used to pay back AR's investment in the running costs of the club during the last twelve months, in which case the journalists might well spin it negatively. Again, that is pure conjecture, but it's a reasonable punt.

He was being asked specifically about ER and completely avoided the answer.
Ask the journalists there how they interpreted, you will get similar response that questions were avoided.
