Spurs Arsenal rivalry

What happened? Has it fizzed out? At least on this board?

Remember the old BBC 606 when it was much more in each other's face. Much more banter. Nowadays its a bit of a old peoples home, fireworks are gone.

What is the reason?

Arsenal fans on here are a sniveling bunch of weeds, alright giving it Billy Big Bollox when they were finishing above us, St Totteringams Day and all that - now we’ve finished above them every year for half a decade you don’t hear a peep, they haven’t got the minerals to back their team when the going gets tough, would rather squabble among each other and do the Wenger/Emery/Arteta Hokey Cokey.

Most arsenal fans on this forum couldn’t find north London on a map and have never been to Highbury or the Emirates. In my experience most Gooners are chinless Geralds who started supporting around the peak of the Wenger era, or peasants that drive mini cabs, work in fried chicken shops and live in their Arsenal replica shirts but couldn’t afford a ticket to a game if their life depended on it. Along with the entitled internet plastics of course, a fan base type that Arsenal practically hold the patent on.

Let’s face it, they are sheite, we are sheite, their fans are all a load of cuuunnttts that I wouldn’t piisss on if they were on fire, the rivalry is big for the true fans of both clubs but while ever both teams are in the doldrums the chatter about bragging rights will be pretty low volume. I have no interest in goading an arsenal fan with a mantra of “haha, you’re slightly more sheite than us!”.

No fans, no banzt.

Football is dead without noise and home and away passion giving their all.

I bet Lampard and others would still be in a job and healthy with it if crowds were in the stadium.

Jose may even be doing his stuff.

The "Best Tottenham era in living memory"™ and they're still not much better than an Arsenal side that's gone through 15 years worth of non-stop mismanagement and decline.

We've just had two back-to-back seasons of sheer chaos at Arsenal, and we still managed to whittle the gap between the two clubs down to a single point at the end of the season. Even lifting the FA Cup with a manager barely 6 months into his first ever gig.

This is as good as it gets for Spurs. Won't be long before normal St. Totteringham's Day service resumes.

Not that the cynical Spurs fanbase would care. After all, these are the same people who still look down their noses at competitions the club couldn't even win if they tried.

In answer to the OP, the BBC606 closed down in 2011, meaning this site, that replaced it, is now almost 10 years old.

By and large the core users on the Arsenal board migrated here from the BBC forum. I don't know how many new - or rather 'new' - sign-ups this board have annually, but in the general scheme of things, it's probably not that many really. Let's face it, younger football fans use other sites, with greater numbers of users.

So you know... the rivalry is still there. Just that people just grew up.

Sorry the answer is that boring.

Though that apology mainly goes out to the Spurs fans, who currently have enough boredom already to deal with in their lives.

Whe-heeey... I done a rivalry!

It will come back when we're both fighting for relegation survival.
