Yes the defence has improved but the attacking play has to be in the top 3 or 4th worst in the league.
Bar the first half v Wolves we hardly ever create any openings in games and today was another example of how dreadful we are in attack against teams that defend in numbers.
I have seen villa opened up by Burnley and West Ham recently, conceding 6 goals but today once again, they faced opponents in arsenal who gave them one of their easiest games of the season.
Also, today I saw probably the 500th cross we have put into the box and once again it has resulted in nothing. Why are we continuing with the crossing policy when we have strikers who can't head the ball?
As soon as we go a goal behind the result is so inevitable as we will just huff and puff without actually creating anything meaningful for the remainder.
This summer we need at least 1 striker to come in who is both physical and can actually head the ball. Auba is 6ft 1, same size as calvert lewin and just look at the difference when it comes to heading ability.
I don't want us to go into next season with just Laca and Auba because there won't be improvements.
Laca is more concerned with shielding the ball and takes way to long on the ball. Also, he hardly every has clear cut chances in games. Auba has just been pathetic. I know he is seen as untouchable by some but his performances this season have been absolutely disgraceful for a captain of arsenal and someone that has just signed a mega contract. Its looking more and more like a mistake getting him to sign that mega contract.
Arteta has not improved us going forward. His league form since joining Arsenal has been shocking. We played better football under Emery and during his first season always came back from being 1 nil down.
Our attacking play needs a tweak and can't continue like this. We don't have game changing players like an Alexis who could create something out of nothing so Arteta need to think of something quick or we will be back to 13th-15th place again.
How bad is our attacking play

Arteta has made the team more organised and more difficult to score against, but that alone isn’t enough to get you past being a mid table team. I’ve seen some promise in attack in most of last few games baring this one, however we’ve still got a lot of work to do. Can see how we’re losing too easily to fine margins because we can’t create and score enough on our own. Yes the defence is better, but you’re always going to concede a goal in some games to bad reffing, a mistake, a screamer from 35 yards etc no matter how good you are at the back. to win the games you have to be able to create enough at the other end to override that, and we’re not able to do that consistently which is why we’re still floundering in mid table.
Like I said since our terrible start, we have made some small improvements in attack. Think we probably do need to bring in a new striker, auba looks well off it this season, and lacazette is inconsistent. A forward should be one of the priorities in the summer. For now Arteta really has to work hard on our attack if he wants this team to get any better than mid table

It's just the over reliance on crosses which isn't working
100% need a new striker.

ARTETA OUT

I think our attacking play is improving and I'm confident Arteta has a plan taking shape.
You're right though, that plan certainly doesn't suit Auba. Nor does it suit Bellerin or our MF partnerships.
We need a new ST and RB. We would also benefit from having somebody in MF who can make late runs into the box. We've lacked a goalscoring midfielder for so long.
