Injuries excuse?

We are missing players and have had injury problems all season, people saying this isn’t a good enough excuse for our poor form this season. But it isn’t just the injures.

It’s trying to get players back to full fitness in this congested season.
It’s trying to field a consistent back 5.
It’s trying to find motivation to go again after how hard we have worked last 3 seasons.

We haven’t had a fully fit first choice 11 all season. Name me a side that has done well with so many problems in one season.

Liverpool are missing 3 cbs because 2 of those 3 are injury prone messes. Maybe they should have done something about that over the last few years that wasn’t selling lovren last summer and praying that Van dijk never got injured and at least one of their two other centre backs who are both made of glass is available at all times.

For a team that relies on high intensity it's only natural that eventually players are going to drop off at some point. If Liverpool want to stay in the mix for league in future seasons they've got some choices to make around refreshing the team and that's if the owners have the desire to release funds to make that happen. With how they have handled your centre halves problem it wouldn't give you confidence.

Squad needs an overhaul. 2nd string nowhere near good enough. Need to be looking at offloading likes of Neco, Rhys, Origi, Shaqiri, Milner and bringing in TOP quality id we want to challenge on all 4 fronts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bit like Spurs then

Not only did City have Laporte, Mendy and Sane out for all or most of last season, there were plenty of other injuries meaning we had to play a DM and a teenager as our defensive duo.

All we heard was 'You've got a big squad, get on with it'.
———————————————————————-
And you struggled massively. Also tbf how much do you spend? You’re the last team to deserve any sort of pity.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Whereas we should be crying tears the size of snowballs for Liverpool when their £75m centre back is out and their £75m goalkeeper makes a series of fack ups.
————————————————————————
We sold Coutinho you stupid donkey. And reached the Champions League final that year. We make our money unlike the Oil run teams.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spurs break even virtually every year on player trading. Harry Kane came through the academy. Don’t see oppo fans do much other than laugh and gloat whenever he picks up an injury.

Liverpool fans on here - who are a collective bunch of absolute priks with one or two exceptions - have made this website insufferable for about two years and now what, you want pity because you’ve had a bit of bad luck? Like you’re the first team to have an injury crisis. Fack off you mug. I never said the injuries aren’t affecting you, of course they will, I said you lot haven’t stopped facking whinging and crying about it ever since VVD got injured even though as Mourinho said you’ve still been able to put out a pretty strong team tip Matip got injured, and that Roy Keane was spot on in his post game assessment of Klopp and the players.
———————————————————————
Spurs have won 1 league cup in the last 30 years.

Again it’s not the injuries. It’s the fact we can’t play a consistent team with players anyway near 100% fitness.

Aswell as the pandemic and the season being condensed, players being mentally and physically tired. These are human beings and sooner or later, it takes its toll.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I mean technically that’s wrong; in the last 30 years Spurs have won the FA Cup and x2 League Cups, if you want to be pedantic about it. Although what relevance that has to this discussion is beyond me. Did you think telling a spurs fan a fact they’d already know (and getting it wrong) would change anything?

The argument you’re making is the same for everyone. Everyone is competing in the same condensed timetable. Spurs for example started playing competitive games (Europa qualifiers) while others teams were still on their sun loungers. We’re also in the LC final, so have played more games than anyone. I’m sure if I did an article bemoaning it you’d all come out with your violins.

Besides, I’d have though the super duper world euro club intergalactic greatest team ever champions would have pizzed their way through a bit of fixture congestion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mate, you ain't gonna win this argument. Liverpool fans think their club is always a different, special circumstances situation, that makes their problems different to everyone else's.
Even one of their own ( Souness ) said last night "stop making excuses and just get on with it"

Sold 4th choice defender. 2 out of the 3 that remain are injury prone defenders (Gomez and Matip) and have spent much time out inured during their careers. Fabinho was considered 4th choice if those two were injured. Didn't have a plan for when VVD is injured. Keita is another who is also injury prone. Got in Jota, who was a good signing. He was also injured, unfortunately for Liverpool. Salah, Mane and Firm have been poor. FBs have been poor compared to previous years. Thiago has been poor, does not suit the side and is an injury prone player himself.

Poor recruitment, planning, injuries, and a drop off in form from the last 2 years.

Totally agree! There was a certain arrogance in LFC early in the season that they were unbeatable. Consequently, they did not treat the loss of Van Dijk are seriously as they should have. Yes, they acknowledged the importance of the loss, but did they have a viable back-up plan? This one is on you Klopp!

btw: Man. City also have injuries to deal with, and so far, they seem to have managed quite well!

The backup plan was to play Gomez and Matip. Gomez then got put out for the season. The backup to the backup was to play Fabinho and Matip. Matip then got put out for the season also. The backup to the backup to the backup was to play Henderson and Fabinho until we signed a centre back or two. Not sure what else you wanted Klopp to do. Play himself?

You should have signed "a centre back or two"! Klopp WAS "playing himself" by not searching for a genuine and competent CB to fill the void. Denial and excuses don't go too far in the PL. Now quit whining and be a gracious loser! Good-bye.
