Was talking to my Arsenal supporting friend yesterday about who Bruno compares to as a player.
He was adamant that him and David Silva were extremely similar players, both play makers, both scored and assisted etc.
I questioned whether he had ever seen either of them play and how he came to this conclusion.... Didn't really get a decent response.
It got me thinking, who does Bruno compare to...?
Bruno's stamina and aggression remind me of how Rooney used to play for us in his prime.
He chases players all over the pitch, he'll defend for us and then go and score or assist, but do they have similar styles of play? I don't think so, or do they?
David Silva - this guy was a pure playmaker. Silky on the ball, passing accuracy was crazy good, Messi like.
Completely different to Bruno though, in my opinion.
Bruno is not a pure play maker like Silva and doesn't have the skill of Silva but he sure as hell makes up for it with all his penalties
Cantona?
KDB?
Beckham?
Charlton?
His goal against Everton reminded me of both cantona and becks, although he's nothing like either of them.
This season so far, he is joint 2nd top scorer behind Salah, level with 3 other strikers, Kane, son and calvert lewin. Above vardy and bamford.
On goals and assists combined, he is second only to Kane.
So bruno is up there with other out an out strikers... Quite impressive!
He's not perfect, that's for sure and he could improve in a few areas, some of his passes are sometimes so bad you question whether it's actually Bruno playing or his secret undisclosed twin who's awful at football - but with every other great thing he does for us, those things are quickly forgotten!
I think the other players are loving having talent such as Bruno in the squad, gives the team a massive lift, including all us fans.
Yeah, after this wall of text, I don't know what else to say other than we're lucky to have him and I'm not sure what other players he compares to now or in the past.
Maybe somebody else has some better ideas.
Long hope his great goal scoring and assisting continues for us for mannnnnyyyyy years.

I always wonder what was he like when he was a winger.

I think we’ve all gotten the wrong end of the stick and he was actually a rugby league winger.

Is it just me, or does AWB seem to be adding a hint of a shadow of end product to his attacking game? He's still playing the same crosses where he seems to be over-stretched and hit and hope, but more of them seem to be ending up in dangerous places. I reckon he's the kind of player who, if he did develop quite an effective attacking string to his bow, would always look worse than his output. There are some players who look better than they are, and some players who look worse than they are. AWB isn't yet better than he looks, but if he gets better I think he'll still look worse.

Reading that back - that was profound A, no?

I'd say it looked better than it was tbh

Yeah I’m not sure what it is, maybe Frank was more box to box, and tactically minded to his role, Bruno floats around and presses and really owns those spots between half way and the penalty box
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was Lampard more box to box? He was usually the furthest forward of 3 with 2 hardworking CMs behind him. I'd have said that they operate in the same areas.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Extremely box to box. Was often our fittest player. Also dependant on who we played. Especially in Europe lampard played a lot deeper. A lot of his assists were deep long balls to drogba. Lampard tactically was very good on the pitch. He would often start a move deep and finish it by his late runs into the box

Everyone has this wonky idea of Frank because his goals where blockbusters, but his assists are underrated but look a lot like Bruno's. In terms of technique and "Latin" style they look different but what they did, scored all forms of goals, roam everywhere on the pitch, run harder than everyone, assists, a fair amount of pens. They compare the most...
Just ignore the height, and size and the beards...

Rui Costa is a good one. I remember that guy when he was in AC Milan
Bruno is just a really versatile player. It's pretty amazing to see really. I thought he was a Portuguese knock off of one of those young English CAMs. Glad I'm wrong about that.

Silva could control the game in the final third like no one I’ve ever seen play in English football. Bruno seems to be more direct and wants to get into the box too when I’ve seen United. Hard to compare though when both played such different systems.

He doesn’t play like Rui Costa, he was much more of a dribbler than Bruno.

I spent a good minute trying to work out who the 'he' is in that sentence.
